THE PRESENT DAY THAT HAVE CHANGED

By Brandon day

Super Planes
The Airbus A380 can seat between 555 and 800 passengers. Singapore Airline was the
first airline to fly the plane on an inagural flight to Sydney in 2007.It was the first airline to
fly a super jumbo to Paris in 2009, because it is so big airports have to make changes to
their infrastructure in order to accommodate the large planes and the large amounts of
people embarking and disembarking the flight. These Airbus A380 planes have reclining
seats with TVs on the seat with an entertainment system with the latest games, movies
and TV shows, they have hot and cold food, drink, a bar and different levels of seating
e.g first class, business class and economy (first class being the most luxury)

Self Check-In at Airports

Self check in is available at range of airports, passengers can save time by checking in at
a kiosk where they can choose their seat and print of their boarding pass. From there
they can go and drop their bags off at baggage drop and board the flight, or if they only
have hand luggage they can go straight on and board the plane.

The Opening Of The Channel Tunnel

The channel tunnel is a railway tunnel that is underneath the water of the English

Channel. The tunnel starts in Dover (England) and ends in Calais (France) The tunnel
opened on 6th May 1994 but passengers couldnt travel on the channel tunnel on 14th
November 1994 the channel tunnel is an easier and cheaper way of transport to get to
France, people would choose this as it costs a lot less than flying. Before the channel
tunnel was built people could only get to France by ferry or plane, and plane travel was
expensive, boat travel took a long time. The channel tunnel was a large benefit to
people want to get to France from England or the other way round.

The Euro Currency

The euro currency is used in 17 of the 27 member states of the European Union:

Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy,
Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain and a
few more. The euro was introduced to the worlds financial markets as an accounting
currency on the 1 January 1999. Before most countries became part of the euro each
country had their own type of currency in which if you wanted to travel across 3
countries you would have to have 3 different types of currency which would be a lot of
hassle. However, it is now easier to travel with the same currency and people will
therefore travel more as its not as much hassle.

Super Ships
New passenger ferry has been created by a French naval architect. Its called Bateau a

Grande Vitesse, which mean high-speed boat. Because of its high speed, the ferry can
cut the journey from Portsmouth to Caen in 3 hours, where as before it would have
taken 6. The high-speed boat will reach Marsilles from Algiers in only 9 hours, with
previous boats this journey would have taken 20 hours.

Reservations and booking

One of the greatest impact through new technologies has been booking online. As
demand for travel grew in the 1950s and onwards reservations were introduced where
people could go and pre-book their holidays a travel agent. Within the last 15 years
online booking has taken huge toll on people, so now most holidays are booked online
either through travel operators, Airline operators or websites where you can choose
from a range of different holidays and packages.
The Internet has grown rapidly as a means of booking holidays and flights. With
increased confidence and access to information travellers happily book all their
holidays online. Booking your holiday online saves time, money and convenience for
many people. Example of an online travel agent would be Thomas Cook.

High-Speed Trains
High speed trains are like the usual type of train but it just functions at a faster speed, the
high speed train in Europe travels at 125 miles per hour. The first high speed trains
appeared in Europe and the U.S in 1933. High speed trains now are used by many
people and all kinds of tourists ranging from inbound tourists, outbound tourists, and
domestic tourists. They are a lot cheaper than air travel and can be more convenient.
Also, high speed trains are more energy efficient to most other trains.

Holiday Camps
Between 1945 in 1960, holiday camps were at their peak, catering for about 60% of the

holiday market market. But in the 1970s holiday camps started to decline as demand
for holiday packages increased. Within the last 10 years holiday camps have started to
increase again due to an increase in competition and now we have holiday parks such
as Centre Parcs. Center Parcs offers short break holidays either mid week or weekend
breaks out all year round.

Mobile Phone
Mobile phone have changed on a vast scale in the last 10 years. Going back to the

1960s there was no such thing as a mobile phone, only a landline phone. Mobile
phones 20 years ago were very expensive and only few people had one. Even 15 years
ago mobile phones were not the most common. They were very bulky and big. Today
there are over 120 different mobile phone manufactures ranging from many different
designs and sizes, the average mobile phone is no thicker than 1.5 cm. The 60% of
Americans and mobile phone.

Destination Development
As the world releases the economic benefit tourism brings, more more governments
Powell money into attracting tourists from overseas.
Dubai has constructed hotels, residential developments, and shopping centers to attract
tourists. Many of these hotels and shopping centers bring a lot of tourism into the country
making a new place the tourists venture. 40 years ago Dubai was nothing and has grown
massively since due to an increasing tourism. Dubai has over 470 hotels and over
130,000 rooms. All the modern technology and and sightseeing is what brings people
here.
The United Arab Emirates capital is the Abu Dhabi described as a new Dubai with plans
to add 25,000 hotel rooms in the next few years.
