Topic: Broadcasting (Now and Then)

Essential Question(s): How do video packages tell a story? Is the story compelling
enough to influence consumer behavior?

Opening: Show some popular Black Friday commercials for a wide range of
products and services (montage')...Afterwhich, request that the students to write
down how each video has an emotional impact on society.

Work Sessions:

Black Friday Commercial project (60 seconds)

* Student groups will attempt to gain approval for their project idea(s)...Once
approved, each student group will construct a detailed shot list and obtain any and
all clearances needed to execute the project. These exercises are strictly preproduction.

* Students will view and analyze the previous week's submissions and give
feedback on what they learned from the project.

* Student groups will research a wide range of video packages then develop ideas
for a their production for this week. The groups will be instructed to views examples
from such media outlets as Youtube, IMDB, ESPN, Fox sports, etc.

* Students will brainstorm, write, shot plan for a school acceptable "free" project
that can only run for 1 minute. Once approved, the will film all scenes on campus
and within the rules set by administration.

Closing: Review the key focus points of the day and preview the piloting stage for
our PHS TV production initiative.

Differentiation: Students will be placed in mixed ability learning communities so


they will be able to contribute based on their strengths

Opening: Student survey/ research.....Why is Cyber Monday so important to our


economy?

Work Sessions:

*Recap the "vision" the AVTF 2 program (semester overview/ goals/ expectations
etc)

* PHS TV production meeting"


Agenda: clarify timeline, discuss filming rules, review project submission.

* Group activityStudents will brainstorm, write, shot plan and submit video
package ideas for PHS TV news breaks. Once approved, the will film all scenes on
campus and within the rules set by administration.

Continued classroom activities from the previous day....Students at this point should
have all pre-production duties completed by the end of the period (Shot plan,
storyboard, etc)

* Student groups will attempt to gain approval for their project idea(s)...Once
approved, each student group will construct a detailed shot list and obtain any and

package idea)Students will brainstorm, write, shot plan and submit video package
ideas for PHS TV news breaks. Once approved, the will film all scenes on campus
and within the rules set by administration.

This will be the last day to film in the field. At this point, the post production
process (editing) should be taking place
