My name is Isobel McKenzie. I am a freelance producer who is currently

investigating the subject area of how much bullying has an impact on young
adults and how it may effect them later on in life, I have used many research
techniques to gather the information that is used for my documentary the
techniques include producing my own survey and gathering secondary
information from websites.
The main goal of my documentary is to raise awareness that even now bullying is a
major problem and effects hundreds of children, not just waist it is happening at
that time but also later on in life. its not just children and teens that are bullied this
is also something that can take place in the place of work and can still have just as
much of a damaging effect when it comes to low self-esteem and confidence.

Why dose bullying take place

Why does bullying occur?
A person can engage in bullying behaviour because they:
Dont like the person being bullied.
Find bullying fun.
Like to feel tough and strong, in control.
Think it will make them popular.
Students who are more likely to bully others are more likely to:
Feel disconnected from school and dislike school
Demonstrate good leadership skills
Demonstrate good verbal skills and ability to talk themselves out of trouble
Demonstrate low levels of moral reasoning and high levels of egocentric reasoning
Believe that the use of aggression is an acceptable way to achieve their own goals
Be preoccupied with their own goals and not concerned about the rights of others
Show more emotional instability, as do those students who support them
Be reasonably popular but more disliked than non-bullying peers
Have high self-esteem and an inflated view of themselves, especially about their
social behaviour and influence

Have lower levels of empathy than other students

Have poor impulse control and poor anger management skills

Primary sources
Primary sources are a way of gathering your own information that is granted to be
reliable as you have done it yourself Information that has been gathered by the user
e.g. myself
This makes it more reliable for the topic that I have chosen as I have asked the
questions I needed to.
An example of this is my own survey that I produced and then published so that
people where able to answer and I could then use the data that I collected as
evidence.

Secondly sources
Secondary research: stats, facts and figures that have been found out by other people and
the published to be viewed by the public. This can sometimes be unreliable as we dont first hand
know if the information given is right or not.
Some secondary sources included websites such as
Childline
Bullying Statistics
The Bully Project

Why is bullying tolerated

Change starts with the people

People dont get involved because it simply not of their business.
People are worried that they may get in to trouble if they get involved, as you
don't know who you are messing with.
This clip will give some answers to why people just let bullying happen and the
reasons
are very poor, this is a social experiment to test how people react to bullying that
takes place right in front of there eyes.

Facts and statistics
