staff and students as a part of the
learning environment?

Learning plan
Before conducting staff development
workshop, staff will be given a brief
survey via Survey Monkey to see how
much they know on Google drive
Have icebreaker for staff as a way of
introducing lesson
Begin with introduction of Google drive

starting with the basics of how to find

drive & the basic layout of drive (docs,
slides, my drive, shared with me, etc.)
Go into more depth on Google drive
starting with Google docs explaining
different components of docs and how it
is similar to Microsoft Word
Go into more depth on Google drive
explaining and demonstrating how to
upload documents, share documents,
edit and make comments to documents,
etc.

Objectives:
The objectives of the staff development are to provide staff with more information on
Google Drive and equip them with enough knowledge of Google Drive so that they are
able to transfer what they learn from the staff development to their classrooms in efforts
to reach their full potential in their profession.
1. By September 2015, all certified staff will be trained on the use of Google Drive
using clearly defined processes so teachers can effectively utilize 21st century
learning as a learning and communication tool with students and parents.
2. By September 2015, all certified staff will implement Google Drive for
professional development in the area of technology and 21st century learning
skills, so that staff can become more acquainted with how this online tool can be
utilized in the classroom for learning and to communicate with parents and
students.
3. By September 2015, all certified staff will have implemented the learning Google
Drive & its components in the classroom to immerse students in 21st century
learning and to provide a tool for communication with parents and students.
Google Drive: Planned Activities
Ideas/Activities to achieve goals:

Test your Google knowledge Activity- Give staff icebreaker activity to begin
staff development workshop. This activity will consist of a set of questions online
for staff to answer in an allotted amount of time correctly. The staff members
who answer the questions correctly will be rewarded.

Objective: To build a bridge between a training session and improved on-the-job

performance.
How the Instructor has used this exercise: I will use this activity to remind training
participants/staff to transfer workshop learning to everyday performance in the
classroom.
Activity Description: Staff will be given a quick online questionnaire/ scavenger hunt
which will consist of several questions relative to Google drive in efforts to gather
information from staff in a quick, fun way about how much they know about Google
drive. The staff member/group that finishes the questionnaire first correctly wins.

The ins and outs of Google Drive- Google drive has so many components
that can be so beneficial to educators, I am using this staff development
workshop as a way of educating educators on the different tools and uses that
can be found in Google drive. I will go through the components of Google drive
using the I do, we do, you do method so that staff are able to follow along but
also have some time to ask questions if necessary during the workshop. This
staff development wont take longer than an hour.

Objective (s): To crystallize learning new information.

How the instructor has used this exercise: During a staff meeting or workshop I
will take time to debrief what we are discussing and/or learning. This helps give the
session a sense of organization and supports individuals as they absorb what they
are hearing and discussing.
Activity Description: To debrief a training session I will ask two different types of
questions: feeling and content.
1. Feeling Debriefing Questions--Depending on the content of the training, I will
ask the participants to take a quick timeout and tell each other how they are
feeling about the direction of the workshop: Have you changed an attitude or
perception because of our work together? or What feelings do you have right
now about Google drive? Is this different than what you felt initially coming into
the staff development workshop?
2. Content Debriefing QuestionsWhat new knowledge have you gained from
our work together? or What do you know now that you didnt know before we
began?
After the participants have responded to my debriefing questions I will ask them a
variation of the following question: Where should we go from this point forward? or
What has to be done now to make this a part of our everyday learning environment?
*** Note: Staff will be given a survey to take prior to the workshop and after the
workshop to show what they knew before and what they learned afterwards.

Abstract
This training will be used to instruct faculty and staff in the use of Google drive for
instructional purposes. The purpose for using Google drive is to increase opportunities
for 21st century learning, and communicate easily with parents and students. The
objectives are to have educators creating a Google account if one is not already in use,
using it consistently for instructional purposes, and creating a communication tool for
parents and students. The attendees will walk away with knowledge of a new 21st
century learning tool, and they will also have access to a Google Doc with links and
information related to Google drive.
Demonstrated need
In Bulloch County Public Schools and Georgia Southern University, there is a push to
focus on integrating 21st century technology into classrooms. Currently, teachers have
been encouraged to use Google drive as a way of communicating with staff and
students.
Evaluation Plan
Teachers will be given a survey at the beginning and end of the workshop to evaluate
their use and preferences on Google drive.

Appendices
The following survey will be used as a pre and post survey to evaluate the use of
Google drive by the attendees at the beginning and end of the staff development
workshop, or training.
