2.3 Curriculum assessment and reporting
After marking the Wizard of Oz worksheets the students completed while
watching the film, I became aware that there was quite a gap in their knowledge
on the concepts of music. Each student knew the definition of each concept, but
not how to analyse or describe it in terms of what they hear. I formulated a
worksheet for them to do with a focus on the concepts of music and in particular,
pitch. Each subsequent lesson now, I will focus a little on each concept and
hopefully build their knowledge base.

Plan, structure and sequence learning programs

As above, I was planning on giving students a practical lesson to work on

their assessment performances but their knowledge was so limited on the
concepts of music that I decided to split the lesson and focus on collaborative
whole-class work on the concepts. To begin with, I had them independently
work on what they know about the concepts of music so that I knew what we
needed to strengthen (everything!!).
