If I Only Had a Brain!

BRAIN PROJECT

1. A major component of this chapter will be creating a project that depicts the structures and functions of
the brain.
2. You may work with one partner or alone. You may choose your partner, but choose someone that you are
compatible with and can work well together with outside of class.
3. The focus of this project is to not only label parts of the brain but to understand what functions of different
parts of the brain are.
4. You should pick a theme for your project.
The assignment will be worth 36 points and is due Tuesday, October 13th at the beginning of class.
Be prepared to share your final product with the class!
Options for this project include:
Option 1: Create a Brain Puzzle
Puzzle must be reproducible so your classmates can use it as a study tool.
Puzzles can include cross word puzzles with clues about the part and the answer is the structure of the
brain, riddles regarding different structures and functions of the brain, and a floor puzzle with the
structures of the brain.
A key must be included.
Option 2: create a childrens book = extensive story line, every page must be in color. The book must be bound!
Your story should describe the parts of the brain enacted in each part of the story.
Have your characters go through activities and tell us which part of the brain is being used.
Pick a theme for the book and stick to it!
Option 3: Create a brain board game that your classmates can play!
Project must include all items needs to play the game. (i.e. board, game pieces, dice, directions etc.)
Rules for how the game is played must be included, students should know how to play the game without
you present.
If the game involves problem solving, a key must also be included.
All brain options must label the following list of parts accurately.
Midbrain
Hindbrain

Frontal Lobe
Parietal Lobe
Occipital Lobe

Temporal Lobe
Spinal Cord
Cerebellum

Feel free to use your textbook and the Internet (http://www.g2conline.org/= go to 3D brain) Genes to Cognition
has several models to help you with the location of brain parts. There is also a free 3D brain App for your devices
