Part 2

Social Media Marketing Plan Development

1. Blog Title: Let's learn how to spell my name
2. Blog URL: https://alexandragsite.wordpress.com/
3. Blog Description: Learning different things I like or think, that can usually
can connect to whoever is reading the blog posts somehow. Also part travel
blog.
4. Goals for blog:
1. To gain followers (at least 10 by the end of the semester)
2. Develop my own voice
3. Be transparent
5. Identify your competition:
Burns the Fire - http://burnsthefire.com/ Brenda Keesals blog, Burns the Fire, is
about her life, what happens in it and who she meets, but she has a storytelling
tone. She has around 14,000 followers. She recently has seemed to only post
one to two times a month. She used to post more often in the past years. There
is a picture for every blog post, and when the mouse hovers over the picture, it
shows a button to pin the post to Pinterest. This is an easy way for people to
share her blog posts. She will usually have around 2-5 pictures and/or videos
within a blog post. Her blog posts are usually longer than 300 words. At the
bottom of every post, there are buttons to share on multiple different social media
platforms. She talks about her family often, and she seems to be a caring person.
She likes the people in her life. She has four different series of blog posts, and
she also writes for Huffington Post. Her words on her about me section has
hyperlinks to other websites with what she is talking about.
Ericka Clay: Author - http://erickaclay.com/blog/ Ericka Clay is a published author.
She likes to write about her life and how she feels. She likes to talk about writing,
what it is like to be an author and how tos with writing. When her blog is typed in the
URL, it brings it to her about me section. Her about me has hyperlinks to her blog
and to an amazon page with her books. The main page of her blog is completely full
of pictures, and the title of every blog post is on the picture. Her posts are diverse in
the way they are set up. Some posts are al words, some have pictures, some are
short, some are long, some have just a video in it and the topics of each post are
different from one another. She has about 5,500 followers and usually posts 1-5

times a month. Her posts have buttons to share the post on different social media
platforms at the end of each post. She will also hyperlink some words to different
websites in her blog posts.
Travel Cathay: http://travelcathay.com/ Travel Cathay is a blog about some of the
roads less traveled in southwest China. The blog has around 12,000 followers. The
main page has one giant slideshow of pictures of the blog posts. On the right side of
the slideshow, there is the name of the page and what the blog is about. Blog posts
are posted a couple times a month on and off. These posts are probably posted after
the places are visited. The places that are visited are described historically, and what
is encountered is in the post as well. Usually the blog posts contain 5+ images.
There are a few hyperlinks in the posts that lead back to some of the other posts.
There are buttons to share the posts at the bottom of the posts, but there does not
seem to be an easy way to comment, if there is a way at all, on the posts. At the
bottom of the posts, there are pictures that are linked from the blogs Instagram.
6. How will your blog be different from your competition?
My blog is different because it is unique as my name. My blog posts are going to be
about travel and each letter in my name is a blog post making it unique. Burns the
Fire blog posts are usually about the people in her life, and I do not talk about people
in my life, but try to relate to more people by talking about the broader aspects of my
life while still focusing on how I feel. My posts are also shorter and my writing is
simpler, which helps relate to more people. Ericka Clay usually talks about her
writing in her life, while I am not a big writer. Most of my posts are diverse and can
relate to people who are and arent writers. Her posts can be more personal than
mine, too, because she talks about specifics of being a writer. My posts will also
have more humor to them then the posts made by Ericka Clay and Burns the Fire. A
lot of people connect to humor. I also feel my posts are aimed towards younger
audiences because a large majority of the people on the Internet are younger than
25. The travel part of my blog will be different from Travel Cathay because mine will
not be in China. I also will not talk about the history of the places I go to, but I will talk
about what each place means to me and what I do at each place. Sometimes my
posts wont be about places I have already visited, but places I want to go and why I
want to go, which not many people with travel blogs do. I will also try to share more
than just pictures (GIFS, videos, etc.) in my travel blog because a lot of travel blogs,
with the exception of Vlogs, are usually just pictures. I will change the set up of my
blog so that the different types of blogs I have will be easily accessible and will show
the pictures of the blog posts, making it easier for people to see if they want to read a
blog post or not.

7. Who do you see as your target audience?

o My target audience is, for the most part, are females around my
age (16-25) who are usually liberal and men who are liberal
o Most people that are reading my blog will be dealing with the issues
of inequality because I do talk about females not being equal very

often, so anyone who has felt unequal at some point in their life will
relate to that
o The costs of this problem is that anyone who thinks that people
are too sensitive will not like reading my blog posts
o I want the people who read my blog to leave with the feeling that
there are other people in the world who felt the way they do/have,
and that it is okay for them to be sensitive because being unequal
to someone else and having to deal with it can be difficult
o Most of my prospects will probably be in the United States,
because a lot of the inequality I write about is specific to the United
States
8. Content Strategy:
Content Source
Youtube
Google Search
BuzzFeed
Facebook

Description
videos that will relate to my post (either music videos,
BuzzFeed videos, travel videos, Donald Trump
videos, etc.)
Pictures that relate to my post usually memes or
travel pictures will also give me information on some
of the subjects I will be posting about
BuzzFeed has a lot of pictures, videos and memes
that are relatable to my topics
Facebook has memes (that can usually also be found
on Twitter and Tumblr) that can be relatable to the
topic of my posts

10. Strategies and Tactics:

Strategy: Become a thought leader with the way I feel and become a leader
with my unique travel blog.
Tactic: Share my posts on actively on different types of social media
(Facebook, Twitter, maybe Tumblr) to bring in more people to read my posts,
reblog any posts relevant to my posts to connect to more people, have
emotion behind my posts that people can connect with and want to share and
try to include my followers within each one of my blog posts.
Strategy: Expand the theme of my blog
Tactic: Come up with more ideas for my blog so that I can continue my blog after
I finish doing blog posts for my name, and so that I can get a larger tribe by being
more diverse with the more posts I have

11. Measuring Success:

Traffic to site: Within the first three months, I hope to earn up 10 visits a
week. By six months I want 10 visits a day. After nine months I hope to get
25-50 visits a day. By one year I hope to have 100+ visits a day. I hope keep
this consistent or gain 100 visits a year each year. I will share my blog on
different forms of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and maybe Tumblr.

I will integrate my social media plan into my off-line marketing activates by

orally spreading the word of what I am posting on my blog. I will discuss what
I post about with my friends and people who think the same way I do and then
suggest to them to look at my blog. For my travel part of my blog, if I start
discussing with someone about where I am from, I will tell him or her that I
have blog and I post about the small (and sometimes large) places I visit, and
that he or she might be mentioned in my blog post. This will help reach
people I do not know to help build my followers on my blog.
13. Timeline:
By the end of the semester I would like to have 10 followers. As my blog shifts
into a travel blog, local/small spots will help bring in more people, because a
lot of people are actually more interested in the more unique places to travel.
Hopefully as I post more about travel, I will gain at least 25 followers within
three months after the semester is over. If this happens, the trend of
gaining followers should continue.
