Course Description
Language,
speaking
and
listening
will
be
taught
throughout
the
year.
Most
language
concepts
will
be
introduced
during
particular
quarters.
Students
will
have
the
opportunity
to
explicitly
learn
language
rules,
but
will
also
have
the
opportunity
to
explore
these
skills
in
the
context
of
real
literature.
Speaking
and
listening
skills
are
practiced
during
morning
meeting,
classroom
discussion
and
presentations.
In
grades
3
and
4,
these
skills
have
been
integrated
into
other
units
of
study.
Students
will
be
taught
spelling
through
a
year-long,
individualized
program
called
Words
Their
Way.
