Language,

Speaking and Listening Grade 3

Course Description

Language, speaking and listening will be taught throughout the year. Most language concepts will be introduced during particular
quarters. Students will have the opportunity to explicitly learn language rules, but will also have the opportunity to explore these skills
in the context of real literature. Speaking and listening skills are practiced during morning meeting, classroom discussion and
presentations. In grades 3 and 4, these skills have been integrated into other units of study. Students will be taught spelling through a
year-long, individualized program called Words Their Way.
