One-day trip to Meteora

Meeting place: In front of the main entrance of the old building of the Philosophy
Faculty
Meeting time: 7.30 a.m.
Meteora compose a unique geological phenomenon well known all over the
world for its wild impressive beauty. Gigantic rocks rise imposing in the middle of the
Thessalian plain.
The peaks of those rocks were the ones, which people chose to devote
themselves to God and communicate with Him. Over 600 years have passed since
hermits and monks established the first monasteries on the peaks of the rocks like
eagle nests between sky and earth.
We will visit two of the six working monasteries and we will admire the works
of man when he is motivated by his love for God.
After the visit to the monasteries we will stop at Kalabaka.
Late in the evening return to Thessaloniki.
