Setting up Windows 2003 DHCP Server for 3300 ICP Operation

Page 1
Requirements:
To support a Voice LAN (VLAN) environment, we typically require the following options in the native DHCP
server:

DHCP DHCP Data type Used for:

option number on Win 2003
128 IP address Location of TFTP for set firmware
129 IP address Location of RTC (3300 controller)
130 String Mitel IP phone identifier
132 Long VLAN ID (hex value)
133 Long Priority (hex value)

In these examples, we assume that the Mitel IP phone is in VLAN2 and that internal DHCP in the 3300 ICP is
used to serve VLAN 2.

To set up the Windows 2003 Server:

1. Ensure that DHCP servers (that is, the Network Services) have been installed.
2. To access DHCP services, click Start , click Administrative Tools, and then click DHCP.
3. To add DHCP options for Mitel IP phones, click on the DHCP Server name. For example, test-
varbnre59z[192.168.1.128] as shown in Figure 1:

7. Repeat this process (Step 4 through Step 9) for the remaining options. Refer to the screen shots below:

After all the options are enabled, create a new Scope. In this example, we have created Scope 192.68.1.0. Ensure
that you check off the required options 128,129,130,132,133 in the Scope Options of the corresponding scope’s
folder.

All of the necessary work for Windows 2003 server is now complete. You will need to enable the 3300 ICP
internal DHCP to enable option 128,129 and 130. Refer to the 3300 ICP System Administration Tool on-line help
for instructions.)
Note: L2 port setting and VLAN configuration of the L2 switch must be set up accordingly to make this work.
