Subject: Immigration in the United States of nowadays

Dear fellow Americans:

We are sending this e-mail to you because we would like to tell you more about
one of the most known phenomena in todays society: migration.
Unfortunately, not all of us know exactly the causes and consequences of the
phenomenon. The purpose of this e-mail is to inform those Americans that are
not so related with this phenomenon.
First of all, human migration is the movement of people from one place in the
world to another for the purpose of taking up permanent or semi-permanent
residence, usually across a political boundary. There are many types of
migration, but I would like to talk about the one that some American citizens
complain about, that is immigration. To the United States, this is a complex
demographic phenomenon that has been a major source of population
growth and cultural change throughout much of the history of the country. The
immigration of people can be caused by many reasons, which include escaping
poverty, an armed conflict, social strife, political turmoil, natural disaster, or
economic hardship.
Many U.S. citizens think that this phenomenon has a negative impact on the
economy, social stability, and the wages of citizens. I would like to clarify that
without immigration, America would not even be the land that it is today.
America was founded by immigrants, making it a country of immigrants.
Migration is something necessary, because a balance of diversity is essential to
the survival of the human race. Without it, we would all be the same because
of the non-genetic-variation and no natural selection. Change is something that
is and will always be in the universe.
Focusing more on immigration in the United States nowadays, a country
without immigration is like a closed mind to new and different ideas.
Immigration brings an influx of intelligence to the country. American citizens
that complain about immigration to the U.S. say that immigrants are taking
jobs away from them, are a drain on their social services, refuse to learn
English or do not pay taxes affecting the economic stability of the government.
Actually, most immigrants pay income taxes; even they if they do not have full
benefits from most federal and state local assistance programs. Another fact is
that thanks to immigrants that come to the United States to work and spend
their money here, there is more money circulating the economy, creating more
job availability. A lot of immigrants do jobs that Americans do not want to, and
these jobs are essential for the economic growth of the country.
If you had a negative perspective about immigration in the United States or
about migration in general, we hope that we have changed it for a more

positive one after you read this e-mail. Thank you for taking the time to read
this. If you have any comments or questions about this topic, you can contact
us at this e-mail, and we will try to respond as fast as we can.
Sincerely,
Concerned Americans.
