If online why,
P5: It is cheaper buying online I think.
P6: instantaneous, cheaper and faster
P1: it is a planned purchase
P7: you dont have to go outside
P8: Its nearly always available, you get every book in the online shop but when it is in a bookstore
they probably have to order it.
P2: fast, convenient and cheaper
P9: I think it is cheaper but in store I can leaf through and speak with the bookseller before
purchasing.
P10: It is fast; you can connect you on the internet even if it is late.
P4: More choice and also time I think
P3: Able to buy things in larger quantities.

If yes why,
P5: Every all the competitors are online so you have to use E-Business.
P6: It is an evidence that we have to move with our time and for the international aspect it is a plus
point to touch a big population in a few time is important!
P1: It makes the purchase easier for people and the author/publisher/newspaper company can become
known thanks to the ads.
P7: To launch everybody goes on the internet, if you post an ad on Facebook, everybody can see it.
P8: You cant avoid the internet time, you have to be up-to-dated nowadays and I think a lot of people
just check online if there is a bookshop nearby and so they cant avoid that and just have to be present
on the internet.
P2: So much is moving online so you have to. People are quite changing and buy more and more
online.
P9: Because most of people go into the internet for financial and time reasons.
P10: Because I think that there is a lot of people who go on the internet and who make only that.
P4: So many people have devices and books online are free.

P3: Without an online store, most of customers would not take it seriously. You have to be on the
internet now and have a bookstore. Both are required!

If yes why,
P5: You interact with people when you go shopping so thats a really good experience.
P6: We experiment, discover, manipulate, see people or even travel in a city very rich experience!
P1: We usually inquiry before doing it, it is something that we like and that we decide to concretise. It
is a considered act.
P7: It depends on whom youre doing your shopping. For example, if it is with a millionaire it could
be considered like an experience.
P8: It depends on what shopping but for example when you buy books and that you read it, it is a good
experience because you learn something. But if you shop because you are frustrated, thats a bad
experience.
P2: It appeals your sense. You look, you feel and then you make your choice.
P9: It makes human contacts easier.
P4: You go out, find something nice so you feel better and thats a good experience.
P3: People watch, you see a lot of people, different things that make you inspirited. I found my
favourite books in a shop so thats a good experience.

P10: It is boring. For me, an experience is something pleasant.
13. (If you shop online question only) When you shop online what device
would you normally use?
10
By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
14. With the available devices do you think it has a positive or a negative
impact on your personal human relationships?
If positive why,
P6: Positive impact because it is an enriching evolution.
P4: Positive because that keeps people in contact.
P3: It has a positive impact because you can keep in touch with people. Its also very positive for
people who travel around.
If negative why,
P5: It has a negative impact because there is no more communication, no more talk because of social
media especially.
P6: Negative impact if it is too much and that the virtual contact gets the upper hand on real relations.
Also regarding the professional aspect, some people lose their job because of selling online.
P1: No more contact/interaction with the sellers
P8: People dont focus on each other for example when I see people sit in a restaurant, every one of
them has their mobile phone in hands and dont focus on each other. I dont like that and thats why I
avoid that. I try to concentrate on people around me. You have to be very careful about that.
P2: I try to manage not being online too long because if you are online too long it is a danger.
P9: Because exactly people content themselves with virtual, dont speak anymore with the seller and
stay at home so with the available devices, people are cut off of the world.
P10: If people always go on the internet and dont go anymore outside, it has a negative impact.
11
By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
If yes why,
P5: People dont go outside so negative impact on the human relationships.
P6: No more direct communication, verbal and nonverbal. All is done through a screen, keyboard, and
pictures. No more contact with the real life artificial.
P1: People send more time on their computer and go less to the shops so there are less and less
relations/interactions. People stay at home to order.
P8: You dont share anymore a good time with your partner or other people.
P2: People are not communicating, no discussion, and no feedback. For example, during a dinner,
everybodys connected and arent talking to each other.
P9: Because people will have less and less real relations.
P4: Less interaction
P3: People dont go outside and stay at home.
12
By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
If no why,
P7: There will always be human relationships at work, you will always go out of your house and if
you dont do it, youll get crazy.

Shop Online
This shows the amount of active users who buy food online. As you can see 90% of the people dont
shop for food online. The one person who does shop online gives multiple reasons for doing so, like
lack of transport, cheaper than getting the bus and back, more convenient and easier.

Peoples main issue is that the food wont be as fresh and that its not convenient compared to
shopping in store themselves. Experience was also a key factor, as people liked going to the shop and
bumping into people. We had other reasons like the delivery charge, lack of trust in the employee not
picking the right food e.g. fruit and veg to their liking.
Me: Give three why you dont buy food online:
P1: Because the shop is right beside me. I dont think the food would be as fresh if I bought it online
and theres no point in paying for delivery
P2: Not convenient, I like to see what Im buying and read the sell-by-dates.
P3: I prefer going to the shop. I can look for offers better. And I dont like having to wait in for
shopping to be delivered.
P4: Easier to go to the local shop, you can see the product with it is and if its gone out of date, and
you go to the shop you can meet people and talk to them in store.
P5: The shop is close, ahm the delivery charge and freshness.
P6: N/A
P7: Ive never shopped online, its fresh in the store and I get to touch the product e.g. bread.
P8: I feel that its much handier to go into the shop, you can see physically what you want and I feel I
wouldnt trust buying food online like freshness and all that youd wana get it quick from the shop.
P9: Ah I enjoy walking to the shop, Im old fashioned and I like to smell the food before I buy it.

By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
P10: Personally I prefer to going for a stroll into the supermarket and have a browse around like and I

9. Why? (In your opinion is it necessary to use e-business, which is online shopping, for a
supermarket to survive in the current market?)
Reasons for supermarkets being active online and not active online
Competition
New Market Segment
Adapting To
Customers Needs
Preference
Location
This shows us two pie charts, one being all the reasons why a supermarket should be active and not
active online (left pie chart) and then the pie chart on the right (yellow and blue) is giving more
specific details as to why they dont need to be active online. Preference may be due to picking their
own food or just prefer going to the shop themselves for the experience.
Me: Why?
P1: Because people 2are going to go into the shop anyway, more people will be in the shop than
online. Maybe for old people but old people have young people to do the shopping for them so.
P2: People like to see and select their own food, they dont want a supermarket employee selecting
the food and sending it out to them.
P3: Because some people dont have time to go shopping, some people prefer to get it delivered
when then get home from work, some people might not be able to get out to the shop.
P4: Supermarket stores are very common and in all areas rural and urban.
P5: Because people like going shopping and they might not trust the buying online.
P6: Yes you got to stay ahead of your competition, and the likes of dunnes, aldi and lidi dont do
online shopping compared to super vaule and tesco. So super value and tesco are getting way more
customers than the likes of dunnes, aldi and lidi who arent online.
P7: To attractive different customers.
P8: I think it would be yeah... for most businesses because if youre not online I think that youre
failing because your competitors will be.
P9: Ehh because the larger supermarkets have done it and its in order to stay competitive you need to
do it in this day and age.
22
By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
P10: Well yeah Id say so, because now seems everyone is doing it like Tesco is always advertising
their online shopping and its quick to their door and stuff like this I think the likes of alid and lidi
need to up their game and kind of get with the program otherwise their going to fall behind.

11. Why? (What are your opinions of the advancement in technology in general?)
Me: Why?
P1: Because it makes everything a lot easier.
P2: Well its because it makes things better, simpler to the younger generationto the older
generation they can struggle a bit.
P3: I just think its anti-social. Is one reason enough?
P4: Yeah its good, there developing positively all the time which is good for consumers and
retailers.
P5: Positive, because it makes life more comfortable.
P7: N/A
P8: I think its a necessity at present, ahm because everyone wants ease of access so you want to do
things more so from your home and like the technologies available youd need them to get that done.

Outdoor Experience
Outdoor meaning leaving the house, whether its for a walk or drive, just getting out of the house for a
little while.
Me: Why?
P1: Depends what youre going shopping for, if its food shopping then its not really an experience
because you kind of have to [go shopping for food to survive], but if its clothes shopping then its an
experience.
P2: Well everything is an experience.
25
By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
P3: Because sometimes at least you get to meet people, it means you go out somewhere it might not
just be for the shop it might be for something social to meet a friend after. Sometimes it might take
you to different places you wouldnt normally go like different towns that might have a particular shop
that you might want to go to.
P4: Its very common, like, to go shopping every week and wouldnt see it as an experience.
P5: Because youre going out and you might meet people you havent met before.
P6: I do, when you go shopping you might bump into someone and chat away who you havent seen
for a month or two.
P7: Because I can leave the house.
P8: I think so yeah because lets say if its your local shop your interacting and seeing like ah seeing
people from around your area and like chatting to the people that work in the shop. It would be an
experience.
P9: Because if, like its a local shop and you walk in there you know the staff and itd be a good
experience for you.
P10: Oh definitely yeah, when I go shopping now theres always like meet someone you know or
something and you can have a quick chat with them and whatever you mightlike there the other
week I met up with my mate bumped into him in the supermarket havent seen him in years so if I did
my shopping online I wouldnt have met him so.

17. Why? (With the available devices do you think is a positive or negative impact on
your human relationships?)
The green represents the positive aspects of technology, the red represents the negative aspects and the
blue can be both positive and negative.
Me: Why?
P1: Because you have Facebook, twitter and all them. Social media.
P2: I dont think neither, but I think if its used in moderation its positive. If its used none stop its
negative.
P3: I think it has, it can have both really because I think devices are anit-social but at the same time if
you use them to save time it will give you the opportunity to do things then that could be a benefit.
P4: On the negative side people are communicating less as theyre not going out to the local shop,
where they can meet up and talk to people. Its positive as its quick and easy to order stuff and get it
out to your house.
P5: Because its easier to contact people abroad and cheaper.
P6: I think it has positive, because some of my family and friends are abroad so you can just use
instant messaging apps and get in contact with them or even ring them up with the likes of skype and
viber.
P7: Because I get to talk to people all over the world.
P8: Well, perhaps yeah if youre constantly using like tech and all that and not going out physically
seeing people you could become slightly recluse. When it comes to that.

By: David, Laura, Lise and Tom.
P9: Ehh because instead of interacting with each other ehh we just look at our phones instead.
P10: Oh I see yeah, in one sense it has positive effects because it is kinda interacting it is socialising

P1: Because more and more people don't have the time to move in shop, so companies have to

P2: In order to companies be famous or increase them popularities.
P3: Because everybody is more and more on internet which develop quickly. If competitors
companies develop their online shopping, it could have a negative impact on the sales of another
company which didn't do it. Beside, e-business is a way to increase sales without costs (e.g.

P4: Because it's something important, today people go online often in order to see the product

P5: Because the company will have more success if it use E-business in the world.
P6: Because you can see the product before

competitors have it, you can have some problems in your business.

P7: The advancement of technologies is good, but we have to be attention by the way that we use

P3: Because without moving exclude ourself of the society. For the companies, the advance of Ebusiness can cut jobs. If everything would become E-business, the shopping will not an

P6: For the same reasons at the top.
P7: That's good because you can shop with your friend behind your computer but you should go
shopping in real life with your friends, it's more social than computer.
P8: Because people go less in real life shopping, to buy things by themselves, maybe.

Ah to keep up to date with what I have in my account, maybe to see when my money comes in
and to see if I have any direct debits.
Its easy, I like it and its free.
Easier, when you go to the bank its more machinery then humans now anyway.
Keep up to date with whats coming in and out of your bank.
Check my balance and statement, and transfer of cash.
Its just way easier than going into bank, very convenient.
