Sport Pedagogy Lesson Plan

Grade Level: 4th /5th grade

Lesson Focus: Cumulative Review


Equipment and Facilities: On the blacktop, 20 cones,
20 scarves, beanbags, poly spots, 2 hula hoops, 10
balls

# Of students: 20 students
Safety Considerations: The teacher will conduct
the lesson in a quality-learning environment.
Students will be seated while listening to the
teacher reviews the rules and expectations of
all students in the class. Students will be
advised to participate in a safe and friendly
manner at all times. The students will be in
proper dress attire for the activity. Those who
are not properly dressed will be seated in the
bleachers and complete an assignment that
should last the duration of the class. Students
will be aware of the teachers cues (whistle
blowing) to stop and start each activity, waiting
for further directions.

Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: Students will be expected
Previously Learned Skills: Students will need to have
to actively participate during the lesson. If students
worked on team building skills, following directions,
are misbehaving, a 2- strike rule will be implemented. and communication and change of speed.
The first strike being that the student will be pulled to -Softball, soccer, basketball, dance, badminton,
the side and verbally warned about the misbehavior
Frisbee
and sit out for that activity. The final warning,
students will be pulled from all activities and will sit
out for the rest if the lesson and watch their classmates
participate in the class. When the teacher is talking,
the students will place all equipment on the ground

and their hands on their head.

Teaching Strategy: In this lesson, the students will be


divided into two teams. I will start the lesson using the
command style teaching strategy. Using an interactive
approach and verbal cues to assist the students in
understanding the techniques that will be used during
the activities will provide the instruction.

Student
Objectives:

Academic Language: The primary academic


language being addressed will be the cues of the skill
for running, lateral movement, Frisbee throw, and
underhand toss
These terms will be used when talking about running
form and how our heart rate is affected during
activity.

Psychomotor (P): Students will be able to use proper running form staying light on their toes
to change direction without getting their flag pulled 70%. SWBAT demonstrate the COTS for
underhand throwing and Frisbee throw
Cognitive (C): Students will be able to correct other individuals on their technique with 70%
accuracy. The students will understand the lifetime benefits of fitness The students will
understand the importance of target heart rate. The students will understand the difference
between aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
H-R Fitness (H): Students will be engaged in moderate to vigorous physical activity at least
65% of the time.

I. Demonstrate the motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
II. Demonstrate knowledge of movement concepts, principles and strategies that apply to the learning and

Describe the pre-class arrangement:

Instant Activity:

Students will play a quick game of clean
your room. There will be 2 teams on the
court. They will be practicing throwing
the poly spots as Frisbees and practicing
the cues for the underhand throw with
the beanbags.

Transition:
Students will collect all of the
equipment and then return to home base
for the next activity

Hi Tiger Pride! Today is the ET take
over today so Ms. Brandi will be
teaching you a fun lesson.
Today we are going to have a fun day
working on our Frisbee throw,
underhand throwing, and change of
direction, group cooperation and team
building skills.
Purpose:
Knowing how to be able to run for a
long period of time without stopping or
breaking down form. Students will learn
about endurance in sport/activity.
Students will connect previous learned
skills to this activity.

Teacher will be explaining the rules of
the game to the students. There are a lot
of rules:
Object: try to protect the hula- hoop
filled with balls. Do not let the other
team take them to their own side. Want
to fill your hoop with all of the balls.
-Can only pull opponent flag when they
are on the opposite side
-If on own side you're considered safe
-If flag pulled, they go to jail, and a
teammate must run across the field to
save them, it is a free walk back
