PIPELINE GAS IN INDONESIA
As a country with huge number of natural resources, Indonesia has great potential in
producing oil and gas. Indonesia still has to import oil to fulfill countrys demand. Howeveer,
with great number of gas potential, actually it can fulfill country gas demand. Indonesia uses
liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or bottled gas to distribute gas in the country. Some experts think
that its too expensive if the gas distribution uses bottled gas. Indonesia is a very large
country and bottled gas price is quite expensive because of its transportation cost. In order to
minimize gas price, experts believed that pipeline gas construction must be built by the
government.
One of the reasons is efficiency. If houses and industries use pipeline gas, they can
control the gas capacity as efficient as possible. Industries can set the gas capacity as high as
they want to maximize their production. By using pipeline gas, gas leak can also be
minimized so the usage is more efficient.
The next reason is cheaper price. The distribution cost can be minimized because the
gas directly distributed to houses and industries. Although the pipeline gas construction will
take much money and may be challenging, but it is worth it. In rural areas, bottled gas sold
with higher price because it is not easy to deliver it. With pipeline gas, hopefully, the gas
price in the cities and in the rural areas will be equal.
The last reason is about safety. Pipeline gas is more safe than bottled gas. Pipe line
gas construction can be observed by the government to control its quality. Meanwhile, bottled
gas produced by some factories and sometimes the productions are not match with national

standard. The government sometimes can not control that. There were some accidents such as
gas leaks and explotion caused by the unmatched standard.
To conclude, pipeline gas construction must be build in Indonesia by the government.
Although the construction will take much money and may be challenging, but it is worth it.
Pipeline gas can solve a lot of problems in Indonesia about energy.
