1. Overview
1.1
PROJECT DEFINITION:
- Automation of room within 20 meters of range via LabVIEW.
- Elements in the room include sound, light and temperature and human
presence.
- All electrical devices in the room will be switched on and off through GUI of
LabVIEW.
1.2
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
- Easy accessibility of electrical devices such as air-conditioners, fans, tube-light
etc.
- Monitoring light, sound and temperature of the surrounding.
- Possible billing information of every device intact with the project.
1.3
PROJECT GOALS:
- This project's main goal is to keep a check of the environment. (200 square
feet)
- The project also highlights the significance of security and need of protection of
one in one's surrounding.
1.4
SALIENT FEATURES:
-
Security.
Sense of protection.
360 degree vision upto 200 sq. feet.
Control and automation of electronic devices within the mentioned parameters.
Use of almost all basic elements found in an ordinary room.
1.5
PROBLEM AREAS/BOTTLENECKS
- Limitation of parameters chosen.
- Approximation of billings will be received. Exact figures cannot be found.
2. METHODOLOGY
2.1
DESIGN PHASE:
- The design phase requires the designed circuit module to be attached to a
computer through a serial connection. (RS232)
- An SPDT switch for each device.
- LabVIEW to be run for the project in order to monitor the restricted parameters.
2.2
IMPLEMENTATION PHASE:
- To put the project into action it is important that all devices in use are interconnected with LabVIEW being the centre.
- All instrumentations and automations are done through LabVIEW 8.5 (or 2012
model)
- Graphical feedback will exhibit temperature, sound, light and human presence.
- GUI will lead the monitoring.
2.3
TESTING PHASE:
- The testing of the project can be judged by the results.
- The screenshots attached show that the project functioned successfully.
- Random values have been used for the initial testing phase of the project.
2.4
EVALUATION PHASE
- Evaluation of this project will be conducted through the final results that will be
produced by the end of the working.
- LabVIEW 8.5 will exhibit the results which will lead to a stable yet winning
evaluation of this project.

6. FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
- Newer technologies in embedded technologies may be used: specifically a
system having 2 UART blocks be used to reduce module size.
- Further advancement in technologies can provide a controller or processor than
can communicate easily with more than 24 devices and can easily be interfaced
with the module.
- The mic used in this module can be replaced by a more sensitive one, for
filtered output.
- Xbee technology can be used for wireless transceiving instead of using wired
USB to RS232
convertors.
