5. Creative Destruction: If we want to increase our wealth and
opportunities; we have to stop doing old things in old ways, and start
doing innovative things in better ways. In other words, we have to be,
creative. But when consumers move on to new goods, it can be
difficult and painful, because old factories and old shops close, and
people lose their jobs. That is the destructive part. And yet, most
economists think that creative destruction is necessary for economic
development.
6. Swedish Entrepreneurs: More than one-hundred-and-thirty years ago,
Ericsson produced cheap and reliable versions of the telephones that
he had seen in the U.S. because of this, Stockholm became a global
center for telecommunications in the late 19th century. And laid the
groundwork for one of Swedens most successful companies: Ericsson.
And today, it still employs more than eighty-thousand people in onehundred-and-fifty countries. Almost all big Swedish businesses share
Ericssons heritage. The average big Swedish Company is 94 years old.
They have apparently not had the policies that encourage people to
start the new businesses that might become tomorrows Ericsson. The

young people and the immigrants who should be their future, are not
starting the new Ericssons In fact, they have many examples of young

10.
I do not approve of the fair shares for all concept for
calculating final grades because it would only benefit the students who
received lower grades in the class. It would be fair to some, but not all
of the students.
The D students wouldnt have passed the class without the help
of the A students. They were not willing to execute more efforts in their
assignments and the only reason they will be getting a higher grade is
because of all the hard work of the A students.
The students who have been working hard all semester for an A
should be recognized for their hard work. It goes to show that hard
work pays off; the students who earned an A put more effort into the
assignments rather than the students who earned Ds. Because of this
concept, no matter how much work the A students put in, the highest
grade they would ever receive would be a C.
If this was the case, more students wouldnt want to put in the
effort and would leave all the hard work up to the A students because
they know they will pass no matter what. If we use this concept of the
fair shares for all it would be a bit contradicting because it would not

be fair to those who put in the efforts for a higher grade, and would
only be fair to those who have low grades.

Reflective Writing

One of the Salt Lake Community College outcomes I used during this
ePortfolio assignment would be the Think Critically & Creatively outcome. I
mainly used this on the free response question because I had to think about
why I did not agree with the concept of fair shares for all. I found many
different ideas and evidences about why I dont agree with it. I made
connections with the fairness of the D students and how it was unfair to the
A students.

Another outcome I used was the Communicate Effectively outcome. I

used this outcome in this assignment by organizing my ideas together to
form good paragraphs about the free response question. I also had to listen
carefully while the video played, so I could I effectively note down any
important things as needed. I listen for the answers to the questions given
and so I could understand the concept of the video.
