ISU Football to host Playoff Game

NORMAL, Ill. The Illinois State Football team will host its first playoff game at
Hancock Stadium since 1999 at 1 p.m. on Dec. 6.
This season, the Redbirds have been busy setting standards high which continued
this Sunday when the Redbirds were placed in a No. 5 national seed and first round bye
in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The team finished with a 10-1
regular season record, the best since 1999.
The community is invited to cheer the Redbirds to victory as they take on
Northern Iowa, the only team to beat ISU this season. If the Redbirds are victorious, they
could be headed to Cheney, Wash., to meet No. 4 seed Eastern Washington the weekend
of Dec. 12. If Eastern Washington loses their first playoff game, ISU will be in line for
their second home playoff game.
I truly cannot put into words how crazy this season has been. Being given the
opportunity to play for the Redbirds has been a great experience, but knowing that we are
making history as we do it is an even better feeling, said ISU starting line backer, Pat
Meehan.
