Edmodo, a private micro blogging platform, was developed for use in the classroom by teachers
and students. Edmodo provides teachers and students the ability to share notes, links, and files to
foster communication inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers also have the ability to post
alerts, assignments, and events to share with their students and also Edmodo is an educational

website that takes the ideas of a social network and refines them and makes it appropriate for a
classroom. Using Edmodo, students and teachers can reach out to one another and connect by
sharing ideas, problems, and helpful tips.
Advantages of using Edmodo
A teacher can assign and grade work on Edmodo; students can get help from the entire class on
Edmodo. It is a safe environment.You do not need a computer lab to use, you dont have to have
laptops in the room, it is something that will complement your teaching and allow you to
improve methods of communication with your students outside of class.(As the best learning tool
should be)
I like it because it is free to use and it is a safe environment for kids. Edmodo is easy to learn and
also it is various types active learning. It is very easy to give students feedback on their work no
matter what they upload, you can leave a comment attached to it.

Educational uses and applications for Education/classroom: (How could this


app be used for education? Specific activities, examples)
Most teachers often use Edmodo to write down their daily agenda and communicate objectives.
They use the beginning of class to go over the post/directions, and students can reference that
throughout the lesson. Most teachers will create a Group for each class and then teachers can post
assignments and assessments that are electronically submitted and automatically graded and also Parents
can create a parent account to connect with their childs groups. In Edmodo teachers (and students)
can attach and share a variety of file types (word doc, PDF, MP3, MP4, etc.) and links to
websites as well as embedding flash objects like , games, google forms, YouTube videos
etc. You can attach multiple files and links to each note or assignment.

Pros/Advantages: (Short sentences, brief information.)


Edmodo is free and it is very fast. It takes less than a minute to post on there. You
can share 1 post with another group. You can also send it to parents.

Edmodo does not allow for student to student interaction.
Summary: Edmodo tool is free for students, teachers, schools and school districts and also secure
Web 2.0 App social learning network platform, utilized by teachers and students. It allows for
collaboration and a platform on which both teachers and students can share course contents,
homework assignments, notices and updates regarding assignments.
