Kidblog Acceptable Use Policy

Dear Parent or Guardian,

In an effort to increase the use of technology in our classroom, I have developed a plan to use
Kidblog in your son or daughters Language Arts class. Kidblog is an incredibly safe and reliable
blog website where your child will be posting a blog each week throughout the school year. Your
child will also be reading posts from other students and will be providing feedback and
comments on the blogs that they view. I will monitor initial posts and comments very closely to
ensure safety and that a positive dialogue has been created. In order for your child to participate
in this initiative, students will be expected to read and agree to the following conditions:
1. Students will only post content that is appropriate for school.
2. Students will attempt to use proper grammar and spelling in every post.
3. Students will not share their Login IDs or Passwords with another student.
4. Students will not use profanity or any racial or ethnic slur.
5. Students will not post photos or videos of other students on their blog.
6. Students will not search or view inappropriate material online
7. Students will not download games or other media on the computer.
8. Students will be respectful when posting comments on the blogs of their peers.
9. Students will refrain from using name-calling or rude comments on their blog.
10. Students will report any misconduct or disrespectful behavior to the teacher.
11. Students will understand that all school and classroom rules apply in the online setting.
12. Students will understand that this activity is a right, not a privilege.

I have read and discussed the acceptable use policy with my son or daughter. I understand the
purpose of this activity and understand that the use of Kidblog is a right and not a privilege. I
understand that by agreeing to this policy, my son or daughter could face disciplinary action
should he/she not follow the rules. I will discuss this policy with my child throughout the year.
