22.3% of Michigan's residence are on disability because of
mental, physical or emotional problems. (BRFSS, 2012)
47% of Michigans High School drop out rate is contributed to
mental illness (NAMI, 2010)

Only 25% of Michigans adults seek treatment for mental health


disorders (Healthy People 2020, 2014)
1,151,000 Michigan residents were uninsured (NAMI, 2010)
Stigma, feeling of embarrassment to seek assistance (Boyd, 2011)

Conclusion

Based on data analysis, demographics and the relation


of poverty mental health disorders appear to be more
prominent.

Mental health disorders going without treatment has


dramatic effects on the overall health and financial
burden to our communities, states and nation.

The use of evidence-based practice will contribute to


improved quality and safety in care.
