NORTH HARRISON 8th GRADE BOYS WIN SEASON OPENING GAME


The North Harrison 8th Grade Boys won the season opening game against conference rival Pekin
Eastern by a score of 44-25. The Cougars were leading at the half 19-5 following a 17-1 run.
Braden Jenkins led North Harrison in scoring with 25 points on 12 of 22 shooting from the field.
Jenkins collected 13 rebounds in the game, including 12 offensive rebounds. Also contributing
for North Harrison were Luke Robertson (9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block), Derek Saunders (4
points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Jadyn Martin (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), Taylor Walker (2
points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), and Kelby McGinnis (2 points).
North Harrison forced 20 turnovers by Pekin during the game. North Harrison finished the game
with 43 rebounds (24 offensive / 19 defensive), 1 block and 14 steals.

NORTH HARRISON 8th GRADE BOYS WIN AGAINST LANESVILLE
North Harrison 8th Grade Boys improved to 2-0 for the season with a victory over Harrison
County rival Lanesville by a score of 44-25. The Cougars defense held Lanesville to twentyeight percent (28%) shooting for the game. The Cougars grabbed the lead against Lanesville on
a two-pointer from Braden Jenkins in the second period. North Harrison was leading 17-13 at
the end of the first half after a strong 9-0 run. North Harrison extended the lead in the fourth
quarter outscoring Lanesville 15 to 9. Jenkins was the leader of North Harrison's offense with 12
points, including six during the first period. Jenkins also contributed 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1
block. Also contributing for North Harrison were Jadyn Martin (9 points), Mackie Burgher (9
points), Derek Saunders (8 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals), Luke Robertson (4 points, 3
rebounds, 1 steal), and Taylor Walker (2 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal).
North Harrison finished the game with 22 rebounds (8 offensive / 14 defensive), 2 blocks, 7
steals and only 7 turnovers.

NORTH HARRISON 8th GRADE BOYS LOSE TO SALEM
The North Harrison 8th Grade Boys suffered the first loss of the season in a game with MidSouthern Conference foe Salem 32-23 at Salem Middle School. The Cougars started the game
slow, trailing 7-0 after the first quarter and 9-2 at the half. Braden Jenkins was the leader for the
Cougars offense with 10 points, including six during the third period. Jenkins also contributed 9
rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Derek Saunders played a balanced game with 4 points, 4
rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Jadyn Martin sank three three-point field goals for 9 points
North Harrison out rebounded Salem 21 (7 offensive / 14 defensive) to 16. The Cougars record
is now 2-1 overall and 1-1 against conference opponents.
