Class Overview
I am very excited
about this upcoming
school year and the
opportunity I have to
share my love of
Spanish with my
students.
My style of teaching
does not just include
grammar,
vocabulary,
worksheets, etc.
While I think these
things are important
and do have a place
in the classroom, I do
not think they should
be the only things
implemented. I
believe in teaching
the students the same
way that I learned
cultural immersion. I
plan to use music,
movies, videos, food,

dance, etc. to not

only make the class
exciting for my
students but to also
give them a deeper
understanding of the
culture and in turn,
the language.

and procedures.
If you have any
questions or
concerns, feel free to
contact me via email,
phone, or written
correspondence.
I am very eager to
start this year and I
cant wait to meet
and exceed goals
with my students.
Yours truly,
Seora Collier

using one of their Es

an emergency) cards.
Each student is given 2
cards each semester.
Once the cards have
been used, they may not

leave the classroom

unless called by the
office. It is the
responsibility of the
students to keep their
cards, and they will not
be replaced if lost.

MAKING UP WORK

EXTRA CREDIT

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

If a student is absent, it is his or

her responsibility to check the
makeup binder or Edmodo to
see what material was covered
in class and what assignments
were given. However many
days the student was absent is
how many days they have to
turn in the missed work.

Extra credit, also known as

bonus points, may or may not be
given at the teachers sole
discretion. Extra credit will only
be offered to the class as a
whole, not to individual students.
Parent or student requests for
bonus work to bring up a low
grade will be denied,
especially at the end of a
marking period.

Electronic devices like cell

phones or tablet computers may
not be visible or used in the
classroom without prior
permission from the teacher.
Presence of such devices is
cause for confiscation.
Confiscated devices will only
be returned to a parent or
guardian, not to a student.

**Makeup tests and quizzes

will be given immediately
upon the students return from
an absence.

ACCESSING GRADES
Interim Progress Reports are
issued by the school at set
intervals. However, a students
current grade in any course can
be accessed at any time by
logging onto the Home Access
Center (HAC). If you do not have
a username or password to log
into HAC, please contact the
office of Sherwood Middle.
Grades for this course are
entered promptly into HAC.
Alternatively, a Student Detail
Report can be requested at any
time. A Student Detail Report
lists all assignments and the
grades earned for each one.
Knowledge of a students
current grade is the sole
responsibility of that student,
and no one elses.

LATE WORK
If a student fails to turn in an
assignment when it is checked
or collected, he or she may turn
it in late. The student will
receive no more than half
credit (50%) for late
assignments.

HOMEWORK

BULLYING/RESPECT
FOR OTHERS

Minimal amounts of homework

are given, so that students may
practice and reinforce concepts
presented in class. Repetition
and memorization, however, are
also important; it is nearly
impossible to succeed in a
foreign language without them.
For this reason, students should
practice vocabulary from the
current unit every night for 510 minutes.

A positive and safe environment

is vital for students to be able to
learn. With that being said,
Seora Collier, as well as all of
Sherwood Middle, has a zero
tolerance policy on bullying.
Bullying, name calling, vulgarity,
and profanity will not be
permitted in the classroom. The
students are expected to treat
themselves, their peers, and
Seora Collier with respect.

SEATING
ARRANGEMENTS
Seating is assigned in Seora
Colliers classroom. If a student
fails or refuses to sit in his or her
assigned seat, disciplinary
action will be taken. Seora
Collier reserves the right to
modify seating arrangements at
any time to maintain an
environment conducive to
learning. Please keep in mind
that relocation of a student in the
classroom does not necessarily
mean that the relocated student
is being disruptive.
