EDCI 572 Introduction to Educational Technology

Proposal Assessment of Course Outcomes and Educative Technology

Native American Crow Music
Misha Mixon, Monica Grimsrud, Lovey Backbone, and Caitlin Miars

Checklist of Technology:
The following list explains how four main technologies were used for this
project. The information shows how they were applied including educative
pros and cons. A rubric was create to assess each form of educational
technology.
Youtube- Videos were taken from Wyola Elementary School in immersion of
Crow Studies and then uploaded to youtube to embed into the warehouse
website. The students in this school learn the customs, language, and
traditions of the Crow Nation. Lovey Backbones husband volunteered to
record several videos on Native American flue and lullabies which we used as
valuable informative resource as many information regarding Native
American music can be very difficult to research since it is passed down from
generation to generation. We used an existing technology to meet the needs
of the project. The instruction of Native American music didnt exist in the
capacity we were hoping for so we set out to create our own.
Educative Pros: Tailor make videos to meet the needs of the classroom.
Recording interviews and meetings with specialists in the field provide an
interesting viewpoint of the educational benefit.
Educative Cons: Videos can be posted by anyone and must make sure the
information is correct and respectful of topic.

Apsaalooke App- The app is an abundant resource for a look inside the
Crow Nation. It covers a well-rounded amount of information such as:
language, songs (praise songs, lullabies, flag songs, powwow songs, etc),

the 1800s). There are 17 categories under language varying from colors,
animals, foods, numbers, clothing etc. Under each category students learn
how to say the words, and have access to games and quizzes to help solidify
the information. The quizzes are easily accessible for all learns with a
listening, speaking, and reading options. The credits give information for the
creators of the app as an opportunity to contact them for additional
resources or assistance.
Educative Pros: This app was created for the better understanding and
educational benefits of teaching aspects of the Crow Nation. The tribe itself

create this free app to be used by children in their school districts and
individuals who are seeking trusted information from the source. Explore
components such as language, music, and videos along with quizzes and
games.
Educative Cons: Must be accessed on an iPad or mobile device.

TeachersPayTeachers- This website is a resource that allows for the

sharing of instructional information among educators. Teachers and
administrators can create account, and upload handouts, lesson plans, and
supplemental educational material. The age categories range from higher
adult education to pre-school. Many resources and templates are free but
there are a multitude of lesson ideas and complete packets of pre-designed
information that open can download for just a few dollars. Its a great way for
teachers to get paid for the hard work in curriculum design but also the
sharing of ideas among educators from across the world.
Educative Pros: The sharing of ideas among current educators allows for
easily transferable information. Lesson plans and classroom materials can be
free or just a few dollars for information that is created. Comments and
reviews from users can give additional ideas or methods.
Educative Cons: Material isnt monitored may need to be adapted to meet
individual and school standards.

Weebly- The delivery method of this project is a technology that is utilized

by many educators and administrators. In the Billings school district,
administrators have created a school website to keep parents involved, in
subcategories teachers have created a classroom website and blog as an
additional measure to keep parents connected and show case student
achievement. The ability to utilize this technology as a free resource to post
information is a valuable asset to educators.
Educative Pros: No coding necessary. Website can be formatted to include
videos, surveys, audio, photos and documents. Weebly can be tailor made to
fit the needs of the users and updated by multiple administrators.
Educative Cons: Website can be difficult to construct if one is not familiar
with the technology of web design and construction. Multiple people cant
work on the same page at the same time.
