Lists with headings in left margin

Introduction: This manual tells you how to properly create lists within
Microsoft Word documents. This manual explains all of the tasks you
are likely to perform in order to properly create a list with headings in
the left margin. The conventions used in this manual are a computer as
well as a Microsoft Word program.
These instructions will help you to create Lists with
headings in left margin on Microsoft Word on a Mac. You should be
somewhat familiar with a Mac and with Microsoft Word.
Description:

Materials: Microsoft Word, Mac Computer, Keyboard, Mouse


Directions:
Add bullets or numbering to text making a list:
1.

Select the text that you want to add bullets or numbering to.
*Bullets and numbering are applied new paragraphs.

2.

On the Home tab, under Paragraph, do one of the following:

To add

Bullets

Numbering

Click

Bulleted List

Numbered List

Create a bulleted list as you type:


1.

Start a new line, type * (asterisk), and then press the Spacebar or Tab
buttons.

2.

Type any text that you want.

3.

Press Enter to add the next list item.

4.

To finish the list, press Enter two times.


* To move a whole list to the left or the right, click the first bullet or number in the

list and drag it to a new location. The whole list moves as you drag, without
changing the numbering levels in the list.

Create a numbered list as you type:


1.

Start a new line, type the number 1 followed by a period, and then press
the Spacebar or Tab buttons.

2.

Type any text that you want.

3.

Press Enter to add the next list item.

4.

To finish the list, press Enter two times.

list and drag it to a new location. The whole list moves as you drag, without
changing the numbering levels in the list.

Troubleshooting
Go to the Menu at the top left of your screen, while in Microsoft
Word, and select Format, and then Bullets and Numbering

If you still have trouble you may attempt the keyboard shortcut
to create a bullet list:
Ctrl + Shift + L

For the number list or some ordered list you can just type the
label you want and press space then typing the context you
want. When you press the Enter it will automatically format the
lists for you.
EX:
1. Danjie
2. Is
3. Handsome

You just need type 1 . (space) and type the context,


after press
the Enter 2. will appear automatically at
the beginning of the new line.

And we can do other lists in the same way.


EX:
a. Danjie
b. Is
c. Awesome.

II)
III)

Danjie
Is
Smart

If you are still unable to create a list in Microsoft Word:


1. Please go away from your computer.
2. Lay down in a bed or on a soft surface in a quiet
room for an hour.
3. Go back to computer and please try again.
4. Dont let your dreams be dreams.
