SAMPLE LESSON PLAN

Students will have had a prior introductory lesson

minutes in science about matter. The teacher will
discussion about what matter is and the 3
different states its found in, solid, liquid, and gas.
The class will then have a brief discussion of the
topic to refresh their memory. The teacher will
assess by the class discussion and asking
questions. Teacher will then introduce to them
the scavenger hunt lesson they will be
participating in.

The Lesson Structure: Activities


Students will be informed about the scavenger
hunt. The teacher will then place the students

into groups of 4. A list of items that they have to

find throughout the school and playground will
be handed out to each group. Every group will
have the exact same list. The groups will then
each be given a digital camera. The will also get
Ipads with the Fitbit app on them to track their
route throughout the school. They will only be
allowed to go throughout the school and
playgrounds to find these items. The students
will be told that when they find an item they will
mark the spot on the Fitbit app to locate all the
places they have found their items. They will also
be told to take quality photos of the different
items they find and that they will be creating a
PowerPoint with the photos they take. The
students will them be allowed to go find their
items.

Once the students are all finished they will be told
to download all their photos onto the computer and

different items the students found and how

scientist can interpret things differently. The class
will then have a discussion about matter and the
different observations they made.

Computers- Students will use the computer with PowerPoint to make a presentation.
PowerPoint- Students will use PowerPoint to create a presentation of the different
pictures they took.
