Lemon oil is probably the

most versatile and widely used

essential oil.
It is one of the oils I always have on hand.
Lemon essential oil is readily available,
easy to use, and best of all, the oil doesnt
go bad when you cant use it all right
away. In fact, most essential oils will keep
for months if stored in a glass container
and kept in a cool location. Even better,
lemon oil is inexpensive. I keep a bottle of
it in my home and one in my purse for onthe-go use. A small bottle is inexpensive
and will last me several months and I use
it quite regularly.
There are many easy and practical uses for lemon oil. These are just a few ways you can
incorporate lemon oil into your daily routines. There are, quite literally, hundreds of uses of
lemon oil. Before purchasing, make sure the lemon oil you buy is safe for ingestion. doTerra
brand is safe to use internally.
My daughter has two young sons and has made sure that her home is free of toxic cleansers.
She uses lemon oil in her homemade kitchen counter top spray.
*Make a powerful natural cleaner. In a spray bottle, mix equal parts white vinegar with water.
Add in 5 drops of lemon oil and shake well. Use this mixture to clean all your countertops, sinks,
and so on. It will kill germs and leave a pleasant fresh smell behind. You may want to store this
mixture in a glass spray bottle as the lemon oil can eat away at the plastic over time.
*add 1 drop of lemon oil to your drinking water to give you a refreshing zest to your water.
* use a drop or two of lemon oil to pep up your
cooked veggies
* using a drop of lemon oil in a spray bottle to
keep your cut fruit & veggies fresh until used
*de-scratch that scratchy throat by adding a
couple of drops of lemon essential oil to warm
water and honey. Lemon oil fights bacteria
was well as viruses.

Our second and most

commonly used essential oil is
the Queen of Essential Oils,
Lavender
Most people think of essential oils
used only in aromatherapy and the
first essential oil that pops into
their mind is LAVENDER.
They can visualize a fragrant field
of lavender in the heart of
Provence and immediately they
calm down and when you actually
smell lavender.
Lavender (lavandula angustifolia) is the most versatile of all essential oils. Most commonly
known for its relaxing effects on the body, doTERRA therapeutic-grade lavender has been highly
regarded for the skin. It may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises and skin irritations. The fragrance
is calming, relaxing and balancing physically and emotionally. Carrying a bottle of lavender
around with you is like having your own personal first aid kit, perfume and pick-me-up.
My daughter Lara was stung twice by a wasp and she immediately went in the house and put a
drop of lavender on each sting site. She said the pain went away within seconds of the
application. Also, when her active 2 year old son Ben has a scrape on his knee, she puts
lavender oil on for a natural antiseptic disinfectant . It also aids in the skins healing abilities.

*Rub 1-2 drops of lavender oil in your cupped palms, then inhale deeply to draw the scent all
the way into your amygdala gland (the emotional warehouse) in your brain to calm the mind.
Then, rub on the feet, temples, wrists (or anywhere) for an immediate calming effect on the
body.
* Sleep and calming aid. When I have a difficult time falling asleep, I put about 3 drops of
lavender essential oil in my "Petal" (by doTERRA) diffuser and I sleep like a baby.
* I keep a small bottle with me (on my cool doTerra key chain) and it is the perfect stress
reducer when you are in traffic, or stuck in a long line at the store or whatever, I just open the
bottle and take a whiff. It really works and fast!
* Add about 5-8 drops of lavender oil to
about a 1/2 cup of oatmeal , add a little
warm water to make a paste and , voila, you
have an inexpensive and natural face scrub!
*Most people don't think of using lavender
oil in their cooking, but because doTERRA
oils are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade,
you can be sure that they can be added to
many types of food, i.e. : Lavender
Blueberry Muffins, Lemon Lavender
Cookies, add lavender oil to a marinate for
salmon or grilled veggies

There are many essential oils that should be

in your "holistic" first aid kit, but if you could
only pick one, Lavender should be it!
Basic first aid kits are geared toward minor
skin irritation, scrapes, rashes, burns, etc.
Lavender is great for all of those, not to mention its calming properties!

Peppermint, the Miracle Essential Oil

Peppermint and peppermint essential oil have many health-promoting properties. Peppermint
is a great digestive, helps the respiratory system, promotes good circulation, and is an excellent
anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. It also smells good and makes a superb air and breath
freshener.
According to the National Institutes of Health, peppermint oil reduces spasms in the digestive
tract. When applied to the skin, it creates surface warmth, which in turn relieves pain beneath
the skin.

*Most people know that peppermint is a great mouth freshener? When my breath is bad (too
many onions on that veggie burger), I pop a doTERRA peppermint beadlet that I keep in my
purse but if you don't have those, a drop of peppermint oil will get rid of that bad breath in no
time.
* Peppermint can get rid of those tension headaches! One of my friends had a headache and I
gave her some peppermint oil. I had her rub a drop of peppermint oil on each temple and the
back of her neck. With in 20 minutes, her headache was gone and she became a "believer"!
* If I have eaten too much or something does not sit well in my stomach, I rub just one drop of
peppermint oil on my stomach or put a drop of oil in a glass of water and drink it, problem
solved. This is a great oil to take when you travel! It should be in your "Holistic Medicine
Chest" and your first aid kit!
*if your sinuses are clogged and your throat feels scratchy, diffuse some peppermint oil (or
apply to your chest) for almost immediate relief and revitalizing air flow.
* peppermint also acts as an expectorant and may provide relief for colds, coughs, sinusitis
*My daughter Lara noticed some ants in her kitchen, so she made a spray of peppermint oil and
water in a spray bottle. This did the trick, no more ants and no toxic chemicals that could harm
her small children.
