Korean War (17.3)

Since the end of WWII, Korea was split into two parts North and South Korea after Japans
empire collapsed. They are separated by the 38th parallel where N. Korea is under Communist
government influenced by Soviet Intervention while S. Korea was induced by democratic ways
set up by the Americans. After the government established and was stable , the U.S and Soviet
Union withdraw the military troops in Korea where the Soviet Union decide to help back up N.
Korea with tanks, airplanes and money into Communist Korea believing that the U.S wont
intervene and help S. Korea. then on June 15 1950, N. Korea invaded the 38th parallel and
surprise attacked S. Korea And took over majority S. Korea. President Truman decided to help
S. Korea by seeing that WWII is repeating itself with dictators like Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin this
time it was N. Korea where the UN (United Nation) became part of helping S.Korea fight back.

Snce the invasion of N. Korea most of S. Kore was taken over but a small portion of the Korean
peninsula known as Pusan where the UN intervened and drove back N. Korea in an surprise
attack consisting of the 15 nations led by Douglas Arthur of the UN. Since Un comeback from
the U.S help mostly caused China to be threatened causing them to join the war on
communism N. Koreas side causing them to send their troops pushing into S..Korea and the
U.S back captured the capital of Korea, Seoul Since china's intervention, Douglas wanted ot fire
nuclear attack on China which was exactly opposite of what they are trying to do, not ucase
another world war. For the next two year, the U.N and S. Korea were pushing N. Korea and its
allies back and gained control over S. Korea again in 1952. the War officially ended in July 1953
here an ceasefire agreement was signed to end the war. This significance between this is that
the U.S and the Soviet Union have completely different view clashing with one another causing
them to fight each other to have one winner which they all have to follow where the Soviet
Union want communism to spread while the U.S wants democracy to continue and help other
countries.

Berlin Wall (17.5)
After the end of WWII , Germany was divided into East and Western Germany wit Esat under
Soviet Rule and Western under the Allies (U.S, G.B (Great Britain) France ). Within Eastern
Germany was the capital of Berlin divided into Western and Eastern Berlin, eastern with the
Soviet and Western for the U.S., G.B, and France. However, the Soviet Controlled Berlin created
the German Democratic Republic which started to built a huge barbed wire and concrete wall
where the goals is to stop Western Berlinfascist form crossing and the Western influence from

influencing Eastern Berlin. On August 13, 1961 is when the East German closed of Eastern Berlin from
Western Berlin known as the
Antifascistischer Schutzwall, or antifascist bulwark.
The whole wall consisted of barbed wires, armed guards where families were separated from each
other. For a long period of time, the wire fences were strengthened with concrete and then in June
1962 another fence was built. The Wall was heavily guarded by armed guards, and anyone trying to
get out of Eastern Berl were shot on sight known as the Death Strip. The wall was later fortified again
base that lasted 5 years called the Border Wall 75 where it consisted 45,000 sections of refortified
concrete with 79 miles of fence stretch, around 300 watch hours, over 250 guard dog runs , 20
bunkers , 65 mils of anti-vehicle trenches. This resulted about 100 deaths of people trying to escape
the wall. Thisi significant causing the tension between the Soviet and the u.S where they are weayr of
USs freedoms and want them to stop influencing communist ways with democracy.
