Watch This is Me! as introduction to the unit.
TTW talk about what a body is using herself as a model.
TTW focus on the face i.e. Our Bodies have parts such as arms legs, head..etc nut today we
will be learning about the face.

For the learning to begin noticing their bodies and body parts.

uctional Input:
TTW do an interactive read aloud of the book Go Away Big Green Monster
TTW emphasize the concept of one and two; as well as the parts of the face. Ex.: Lets count
the eyes, 1, 2. the monster has 2 eyes.
Mod
eling:
TTW point and say the name of the part and point to her corresponding body part. Ex.: the
monster has a nose (points to his nose) and I have a nose (points to her nose). We both have a
nose.

k for Understanding:
TTW ask the students to name the part by pointing (to themselves or the monster) or verbally
naming it.
Guid
ed Practice
TLW come up to the front and place the part the teacher asks for on the monster. Ex. Can you
get the eyes and put them on the monster?

TLW glue the parts of the monsters face in their corresponding place.

Ongoing throughout lesson by asking questions, and observing the students during independent
practice.
Reteach (alternative used as needed):
Will play video of My Eyes Nose Mouth Ears before guided practice to emphasize and
isolate the parts of the face we are focusing on.

Before being dismissed to independent practice, TTW close by going over the parts of the
face using a human face. Ex. Just like the monster we have eyes ears..etc. TTW remind
students that the face is part of the whole body and then play Shake It which emphasizes
all the parts of the body.
Assessment/Summative Evaluation: TTW evaluate the students based on their
independent practice.
Modification Notes: The students will be demonstrated the material through songs,
manipulatives and pictures. The students will be given extended time to work and
answer questions. The students will be permitted to answer verbally or by pointing.
Assistance during independent work will also be provided to those who need it.
