I have thoroughly reviewed the paper and I found that, the paper suffers from
many serious problems. Some of them are given below:
1. Manuscript has lot of typographical and grammatical errors as preheating is done before the welding but author has written after instead of before at many places. Some other errors are as: (i)Page 4-As it is observed...observable and Further, the ...defects are grammatically incorrect sentences. (ii)On page 6 line 1, figure no. is not given. 2. Manuscript simply makes some statements but do not provide the literature support as (i)Page 4- However, the...tool design. (ii)Page 6- The most important...process. 3. Manuscript does not give any information about the FSW machine and joint configuration. 4. Some statement are either incorrect or need explanation as on page 5 heat input ...weld power. 5. Figure 4 is not clear. In figure 4(e) and 4(g) both are for HAZ at 100m but are different. 6. On page 9, paragraph 4 is irrelevant here as it is for steel. This also does not contain a reference. 7. Figure 6 is not explained critically. As there is decrement is mechanical properties after optimum level but its reason is not explained. 8. Conclusion 2 is a general statement not a finding by author himself. In addition to the above cited deficiencies, the paper only mention that preheating is beneficial in FSW but does not contribute to any new knowledge for effective use of preheating in the field of FSW. So it is recommended that the paper should be rejected in its present form.
