ABSTRACT

Train is one of the mass transportation which moves on rails and can be run by steam, diesel, and electricity.
Nowadays, innovation of support infrastructure is needed to improve train performance. One of the
innovation that can be applied is to add anti-earthquake system on the train. The principle is that when an
earthquake happens, the train will stop automatically. This system uses a vibration detector or a highly
sensitive seismometers. Seismometer detects primary waves which arise as a result of vibrations from
earthquakes and can provide early warning. Besides the addition of anti-earthquake systems, additional rail
track can be installed. Additional rail has function to prevent wheel-skid or wheel-slip when the train
stopped suddenly during earthquakes. As for other methods is by adding a metal lip on each of the outside of
the wheel train. In addition, in order to keep the train speeding on bends without slipping, track rail slope
can be directed toward the bend. This will reduce the value of the centrifugal moment happened on the train.
From this infrastructure innovation, it is expected to improve the performance of train so that it can operate
optimally.
