Data Meeting

Triad 4:
Rebecca Hastings
Karen Teel
Lindsay Donahoo
PROPOSED SOLUTIONS:
The best solution for our challenge of not having every student there every time
we meet for morning intervention was to make the most of it! Thats what we have been
doing and will continue to do. We had it worked out where everyone knew who they
would have each day and who would be giving each particular assessment. As far as only
having the students for a short amount of time, if one person in our triad worked on an
assessment with the students and didnt finish it, then the person that had the students the
next day would make sure that the students worked on that assessment first before they
started a new one.
ACTION PLAN:
We used different graphic organizers, cause and effect activities, and discussion will
allow us to continue building the students knowledge of cause and effect. We read The Day
Jimmys Boa Ate the Wash by Trinka Hakes Noble and identified the cause and effect of the story.
We also watched a short film that addressed the issue of cause and effect and the boys loved it!
Then we gave them a set of cause and effect cards. With these cards they determined which one
was the cause and which effect went with it. This led to a good conversation about the difference
between sequencing and cause and effect because at first they thought they were the same thing.
Two strategies that we will use in the following semester will be our best possible use of time
management and better collaboration with one another. And finally our goal is to enhance our
pirate pals learning the best that we can!

REFLECTION:
We all were very happy with the way that our meeting turned out! I dont think
that anything was difficult to talk about because we were very prepared had discussed
everything ahead of time. Everyone in the triad was on the same page and Dr. Hoaglund
was very understanding of our situation that the assessments we were given not matching
our students targeted issues. I think that we met the goals of the meeting and our
presentation, but we also learned even more during the meeting. We were worried that
our lack of data because of the pieces not fitting together as far as the given assessments
and the problem area would be an issue, but it wasnt at all! We made it work and did all
we could to address the issue as soon as we finished the required assessments and were
very happy with the results.
