Why We Need to Integrate Technology
When thinking about 21st century learning many schools are behind in the times.
Integrating technology into schools is a major need throughout the entire country. Many
countries lack the resources needed to use technology and it must be addressed. Teaching with
technology will not only help the students learn the content but will also teach them
technological skills that they will need for the future. Integrating technology into the classroom
is imperative because it enhances the learning process, it provides the classroom with more
diversified learning materials and it completely changes the way teachers teach.
When integrating technology in the classroom, learning is greatly enhanced through its
use. Technology allows students to learn the content in a myriad of ways while also greatly
enhancing the instruction that they are getting. The online article about why we should integrate
technology states that learning through projects while equipped with technology tools allows
students to be intellectually challenged while providing them with a realistic snapshot of what
the modern office looks like (Edutopia). One can see that learning through projects and using
technology will allow students to learn the material in many ways that will not only help them
learn the material but help them for their future jobs when it comes to group work, presentations
and the technology they will need to succeed. The ultimate goal for education is the students to
learn the content and prepare them for their next steps in life. By having them use technology

and do projects together, they will be prepared to enter the work force when they graduate high
school.
Integrating technology creates a more diversified classroom when it comes to instruction.
Using the internet allows students to answer questions instantaneously and allows students to
enhance their knowledge beyond the objectives that are presented. Edutopia states the Web
connects students to experts in the real world and provides numerous opportunities for
expressing understanding through images, sound, and text (Edutopia). As one can see, it not
only connects students to the real world but also allows them the differentiated instruction
needed to master the material. By using sound, seeing text, looking at images, students will be
able to learn the material in a variety of ways. Using technology helps teach the material to all
students that learn in different ways.
Lastly, the integration of technology into the classroom not only changes the way
teachers will instruct their students but will make their lives easier in the end. Edutopia shows us
that technology also changes the way teachers teach, offering educators effective ways to reach
different types of learners and assess student understanding through multiple means (Edutopia).
Students need to be assessed in a variety of ways and one can see that technology can help create
a multitude of assessments for teachers. Technology helps educators grade assignments quicker
but also allows the educator to provide effective feedback to each student. This is something that
is greatly needed for students for them to learn from their mistakes, make corrections and master
the material.
All in all integrating technology into the classroom is needed throughout the country
because it helps provide feedback to students, it helps them enhance their learning in a variety of
ways and helps prepare students for all of their future endeavors. The main goal of education is

that our students learn the material and that we prepare them for college or their future jobs.
Technology is evolving every single day all around us and if we do not evolve with the
technological revolution that we are seeing, we will fall behind as educators and hurt our
students capabilities of learning the material. Technology is a key component to learning and
we as educators need to be at the forefront of using technology in the classroom not only for our
profession but for our students learning.
