Reflection
During the last two weeks I was suppose to learn about sentences and grammar.
I learned this by looking at Ms.Castels video. Before we started the grammar unit we
worked on how to build sentences.I wasnt a hundred percent sure what subject and
predicate was so I started on that unit.
On March 3,2014 I started to learn more about subject and predicates. Subject is
a noun and a predicate is a verb. I learned about subject and predicate on Ms.Castels
videos. I learned that sometimes there is information that isnt needed and you could
cross it out. I was effectively using my time because I was doing my work by myself.
When I work with a person I either get distracted or they help me out. Most of the time I
get distracted and dont do my work. I completed the yellow worksheet and one part of
the grammar book.The next day I started to work with Krissia and she asked me for help
and I told her what a predicate was. When I was working with her, didnt focus that
much because I started to get distracted.At the end of the class I focused more by
completing part A of the worksheet.
On March 7,2014 I learned about phrases and clauses. Phrases are a group of
words. Clauses are incomplete sentences with subject and predicate. No ,I didnt have
trouble because I saw Ms.Castels video and I understood it very clearly. I was effective

on my work because I focused and didnt talk as much or get distracted. Krissia and she
explained the worksheet that we had to do. I didnt know what clauses meant and she
told me they were subject and predicates.
On March 10,2014 I learned about phrases. When I first started the class I didnt
know what it meant. I learned that it means information not needed in a sentence. I
learned what phrase meant by Ms. Castel because I asked her for help. I was effective
in the assignment because Ms. Castel told us that chisme wasnt going to help us out
in life or in english. We started to focus more on the assignment and didnt talk about
gossip. I was being helped by Krissia and we both helped each other on the phrase and
clauses assignment. We accomplished and finished our assignment.
On March 12, 2014 i learned about subordinate clauses. I learned that
subordinate meant that it cant stand alone as a sentence because it does not provide a
complete thought.I learned it in Ms. Castels video and I remember that my 8th grade
teacher taught me. I wasnt very effective on my work because I didnt feel good.I
worked with Krissia and she helped me what subordinate meant because I was a bit
confused.
On March 13,2014 Krissia and I got more practice on subordinate and
independent clauses. I learned that independent clause means that it can be a sentence
by itself. I knew what some things were but I didnt have that much practice.We were
very effective on our work because we didnt talk as much as yesterday. We focused
more because we actually finished our work. We were really proud of ourselves
because Krissia and I corrected Ms. Castels answer key.
I didnt finish all of the assignment on grammar because I admit Krissia and I

didnt focus because we were talking the whole time. Most of the time we were talking
but sometimes we helped each other out and focused. This assignment helped me
refresh some things on grammar because I knew what it was, but I didnt memorize
everything Ms. Castel taught us. In 8th grade I remember learning about independent
and subordinate clauses but my teacher, Mr Reynoso, gave us life examples. He either
showed us the assignment on youtube or made it fun. Next time I work with somebody,I
should do my assignment and also tell them to help me because I really need a good
grade for english. I think that the more that we play jeopardy I think Ill end up getting a
prize because I know Ill memorize everything that Ms. Castel teaches us. Ms. Castel is
a great teacher, it is just that some student dont focus on the assignment and get
distracted by other students. In my opinion, I think that its true because that happened
to me. I got distracted but at one point I did my work which was when I started doing my
assignment. Next time Ms. Castel gives us an assignment like that I think Ill work by
myself or work with a partner. Ill tell them that there will be one condition, we will help
each other out and not get distracted by anything.
