Multi-Camera Production Roles


You will be producing 3-4 interviews during your chat show. For each interview state who will be
doing which role. You must do EVERY role once during the show.

TASK 1: Define each of the following roles
Interviewer
Describe their job Reference your research
There job is to present the show and ask the interviewee questions and listen and respond to
the answers. Its there job to make the interviewee feel comfortable and be ablt to make
them open up and answer there questions.

Have good people skills and be confident and able to listen and build conversations

Director
Describe their job - Reference your research
To make sure the show runs smooth and make things happen . they have to be able to
quickly make up there mind on whats going to happen. Its also there jjob to control everyone
involved in the production.

Be able to tell people what to do and have good communication skills, good leader and be

Camera Person

Make sure the camera pointing where the director wants to be physically make the camera
stays where they want it make sure its got the right composition framing and to make sure all
cameras are working at all times

Quick on there feet and be able to be quite and listen to people and have a knowledge in
what to do when it comes to framing

Sound Mixing
Describe their job - Reference your research
There job is to make sure the sound is right and going through so it sounds right so they might
have to switch between mics depending on whos taking and mute things when overlays are
playing like insert clips from location shoots. They will also have to tell all the crew of the sound
guys where to be to get the right sound

Good ears and understanding of the equipment

Vision Mixing
Describe their job - Reference your research
Vision mixing is where the show records like what camera plays when and if a inset is inserted.
They basically edit the show with different transition methods. They join together clips whilst the
shows going like they will have to see what looks best and how to make it all flow

What skills do they need to do their job well?
Need to have a good understanding of what they need to do, and be creative to make the show
flow and work

Graphics Generator

They make the graphic for the things that overlay on a show like the intro and the end credits also
the will do all the names of people and things like that

Be able to spell and use a computer with the software required to make the graphics

Lighting Desk

There job is to control the lighting for the show they will have controls for every light in the studio
and they will adjust the lighting so people arent over exposed and the back drop is light up right
so everything looks right

Good eyes so they can tell if its to bight or to dark

Floor Manager

there job is to make sure that set, props and technical equipment are safe and ready to use in the
right position for filming. They are also in charge of all communications with the guests and
audience like make sure there seated read for the show to start, its there job to make sure that
timings are met and the show goes smoothly

They will mainly be in the studio floor but sometimes in the control room as well

Have good time management and be able to talk to people and organise them. They have to be
confident and able to meet deadlines

Draw a plan of your set. Mark on the position of lights, cameras, props and Green-screen
backgrounds.

Lighting Design
Take photographs of the lighting set up for the following sections of your show;
a) The presenter introducing the show
b) Interviews (the lighting may be different for different interviews)
c) The end of the show
Stick the photographs in and add notes explaining the setup.
