MATH FLUENCY
Good Afternoon Teachers!
As many of you are diving into the new school year, we wanted to take a moment to
remind you of a helpful resource. Our past tenure project was to create math fluency
packets for grades K-4. If you go to our school website
(ps76benningtonschool.weebly.com) and click on Resources in the Parent
Portal there is a link to the website. For those of you looking for a more direct
path, I have included the link below.

tonschoolmathfluency.weebly.com/
When you visit the website you will find that each grade has a menu of math
standards. You can then click on a standard and the link will take you to games and
activities that you can use to strengthen a skill. These activities are excellent to send
home for extra practice or include in differentiated center activities!
These Math fluency packets were compiled by Alison Libfeld, Cara DiNapoli,
Ashley Kardian, Marielle Palombella and myself. Please feel free to reach out to us
if you have any questions!
Have a great weekend!

STEM CHARTS
We have added thinking stems charts to the google drive accounts. These charts
match the work we are doing in conjunction with Comprehension Connections and
our ELA units. They are student friendly and have graphics to support each thinking
strategy. Thanks to Cara McDonnell for forwarding this great resource!
HEALTH TAGS
Teachers: All students who have health tags should wear their tags at lunchtime. If a
student needs a new tag, please inform the Mrs. Nash, School Nurse.
Waterford:
A tip sheet regarding Waterford was placed into our PS76 shared Folder.
BOOKAWEEN IS BACK!!
On October 30, 2015, our students would be so excited if you come dressed as your
favorite character in a book. You can visit the classrooms of your colleagues and
read the story or an excerpt while dressed as that character. In the past we have had
characters ranging from Harry Potter to Rosa Parks to the cows from "Click Clack
Moo". Be creative and have fun! Happy Bookaween!
All Staff Members:
Earlier this week, everyone received a chart which displays our 2015-2016
Instructional Focus. Our focus for this school year is, "If we use assessment data to
plan for differentiated instruction in ELA and Math, then student engagement will
improve and lead to increased student achievement." This chart should be displayed
in your classroom. It is important that you understand our instructional focus and are
comfortable discussing it. We will be discussing our focus throughout the year and
designing engaging activities that will address our students' needs.
Bulletin Boards:
The October Bulletin Board should be reflective of the First Eight Days of the ELA
Curriculum. Please be sure to refer to the PS 76 Conference Notes pages 7 and 32
as a guide for Bulletin Board expectations. October's Bulletin Board may not have
included a rubric however all bulletin boards after October should have a rubric
displayed.
CANDY:
The PTA has asked for candy donations for the October PTA meeting. Please collect
all candy and bring to Mrs. Peralta in the main office. Also, please make sure the
students name and class are on the bags of candy. Thank you.
Classroom Teachers: F&P MOSL Norming:
