HLAC 1096 Lifelong Wellness Application Paper


Write a paragraph on each of the following:
1. What did you learn about lifelong wellness from taking this activity class?
Lifelong wellness is an active process of becoming more aware, and of learning
to make healthy choices in our lives that will lead toward a longer life. Lifelong
wellness is the conscious and consistent development of the whole self, including
physical, mental, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual and environmental wellbeing. It is a proactive and preventative approach to aid in proper weight control,
good nutrition, and physical activity. These actions are crucial to being able to
control any and all of our health risk factors. Healthy choices, changes and
habits, lead to a longer, happier life. It has also led to the understanding that if
exercises are performed correctly, it is less likely for an to incur an injury and
more likely to tone muscles and lose weight. In other words, having discipline
and commitment, as elemental factors in the development of wellness will help
anyone to break with the negative feelings that hard exercising sometimes may
cause.

2. How would you apply this information to your life?


I believe that it is necessary for me to set goals by establishing a workout
schedule, watching my caloric intake, keeping hydrated, working out in my
muscle strength and tone, and most importantly keeping motivated in the idea
that exercising is a benefit for my own wellness. I want this pattern to be a habit
on me in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and hopefully reduce any potential
health problems in the future. Applying the information from this course will aid in
controlling or diminishing the health risk factors I have and in return, by
incorporating these changes, I will live a longer, happier life.

3. What is your intention to continue to exercise in your life and why?


I will continue to exercise at least three hours a week. It would be a lie for me to
say that I enjoy exercising, but I do certainly enjoy the consequences. I feel that,

for the first time in a long while, I am happy with my body and feel that my newly
adopted exercise regimen and diet have been instrumental in my success. I want
to enjoy life to the fullest. This class will help me to live a long, happy and fulfilled
life. I would not accomplish this the way I was living my life before this class.
Taking this classis a step in the right direction in becoming a healthier, happier
person.

4. General ideas for improving this course?


I felt that this class was fairly instrumental and the lessons and assignments
provided did accomplished the goals outlined in the syllabus. I dont think that
improving ones fitness is a goal that can be easilly accomplished online and I
think that the materials provided were the best available.
