Causatives are main verbs that cause people to do things.

Causative verbs include: make,


get, have, let, and help.
a. Active Causative of
Pattern:
S + have/let/make/help+ O1 +V1 + O2
S + get + O1 + to V1 +O2
Example: I have the mechanic repair my car.
Mom made the servant mop the floor yesterday.
Dad gets my brother to polish his shoes everyday.
Uncle will help his daughter do her homework.
b. Passive Causative
Pattern:

S + have/get/let/make/help/get + O + V3
Example: The manager had the letter typed soon.
We must get the work finished quickly
I made my trousers shortened
Mom lets her clothes ironed
