Week 9: what does reflective teaching mean to you?
Reflective teaching to me means looking back on ones own life experiences
and analyzing how their experiences were. Some of the experiences are race, class,
and gender. I believe that we are all biased in some way but it is up to us to reflect
on our own ways of upbringing and then try to change ones perspective of things. I
do not think that one has to necessarily conform to another persons belief, I believe
that reflective teaching has to do with how one thinks about things from their point
of view. After all, if everyone thinks the same way then the kids will not learn how to
think for themselves someday; because, the adults will then tell them that you have
to think this way or if you want to be liked by everyone then you should behave in
an appropriate way.
