To whom it may concern,

My name is Jenna Minor, a recent graduate of the University of Alberta. I have a Major in the Dramatic
Arts, and a Minor in Fine Arts. I also have a Diploma in Social Studies, which was also completed
through the faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. I was awarded my first degree in June 2015,
and my diploma in November of the same year. I am interested in seeking employment as a teacher.
My fascination in the field of Education comes from both my excitement for teaching at the Junior
High and High school level, as well as my passion and love for the Arts. I believe that as a University of
Alberta Graduate, the Education program provided me with the knowledge and desire to work towards of
incorporating new ideas in terms of Educational Philosophy and theory. I was pushed to understand as
well as develop many areas of Educational instruction such as: differentiated instruction, assessment
practices, a universal design for learning, backwards design, implementation of technology, and other
methods as well. I have been able to further develop these areas through my AFX and IFX field
placements, where I had to apply this knowledge to teach grades 7-12 Drama, Health, and English.
It is my belief that Educators must prepare students for the world they will encounter outside of school;
their future will go unrealized without the integration of various technological platforms into the
classroom. We cannot rely on past standards to dictate instructional skills within an ever-changing world.
Todays learners reflect the diverse society we live in. I try to integrate as many different learning styles
as well as differentiate my instruction using a variety of methods. I also believe in using lots of large and
small group oriented instruction.
I have experience working with children of varying ages, from 5 to High school level at the Ukrainian
Cultural Heritage Village. It was there that I worked towards beginning to develop differentiating my
style of instruction. I continued to develop and hone my skills in both fields of technological integration
as well as differentiated instruction. In my second practicum I also began to explore the use of
interdisciplinary work when I was teaching English 20-2. In order to grab the interest of my students I
found various ways to incorporate performance as well as theatre games into my lesson plans in various
ways. I look forward to the opportunity to take up the challenge of instructing my own classroom. I hope
to be able to help develop and enhance a Community of dedicated learners.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to express my interest in beginning a career in Education.

Jenna Minor, B.Ed.
