Anticipatory Set Students will view a powerpoint presentation about value scales and
participate in a discussion about highlight, shadow and midtone.
Procedures

Students will enter the room quietly

Students will view a powerpoint presentation about value scales

Students will identify the highlight, shadow and midtone on the powertpoint

Instructor will pass out a value scale worksheet

Students will complete the value scale activity


o Start with lightest light and darkest dark
o Fill in midtone
o Fill in other values

Students will assist with the distribution of supplies


o Pencils
o Rulers
o Paper

Instructor will demonstrate how to make a two inch by two inch grid on paper

Students will count the letters in their first and last name to determine how large
their grid should be
o Add 1
o First name across the top
o Last name down the left hand side

Student will write name in all capital letters in first block of grid

Students will assist with cleaning up supplies
