Domain 1: Classroom Strategies and Behaviors (v2)

Domain 1 is based on the Art and Science of Teaching Framework and identifies the 41 elements or instructional categories that happen in the classroom. The 41 instructional categories are
organized into 9 Design Questions (DQ) and further grouped into 3 Lesson Segments to define the Observation and Feedback Protocol.

Comments:
During my observation I noticed that you were using the academic vocabulary with the students throughout the lesson. This is very important. You asked students to explain what terms
meant or to identify angles in a diagram that matched the math term. By repeating the terms and showing many examples you allow students to process and understand the content
better. Your use of having students indicate the things they agreed with or were not sure of also helped you monitor the level of understanding in the room. In the future one way that
you could check on this would be to use small white boards and have students write answers and then hold them up so that you could check on the whole class with some questions.
Kahoot is a digital why that you could get at this information as well. How might you adapt and create new strategies for reviewing content that address unique student needs and
situations?

Comments:
During your lesson today you were using a ball to have students answer questions. It was a neat idea to keep students engaged in the lesson and being able to select the next person
who will answer a question. You moved from question to question quickly and involved many students.

The teacher demonstrates intensity and enthusiasm for the content in a variety of ways.

Evidence:
Teacher Evidence:

Student Evidence:

Teacher describes personal experiences that relate to the content

When asked, students say that the teacher "likes the content" and "likes
teaching"

Teacher signals excitement for content by:

Students' attention levels increase when the teacher demonstrates

enthusiasm and intensity for the content

Physical gestures
Voice tone
Dramatization of information
Teacher overtly adjusts energy level

You did a great job with your energy level. You were upbeat and positive and kept the class moving. This is a strength of yours. In addition to, demonstrating intensity and enthusiasm
for the content in a variety of ways, how can you monitor the extent to which students keep engaged?

followed:

You did an excellent job with positively addressing rules. During the class you thanked the students and told them how much you appreciated the students engagement and following
expectations. This is important to continue as you continue in your teaching career.
