College Reading Reflection

During the 2015 Fall semester in Pasadena City College, in the College One
Class, students are read the book which name is The Spare Parts written by
Joshua Davis. I only did a Reading Response Journal that is called RRJ, it was very
hardly work to me and it also have a five question every RRJ. These readings and
writing influenced me in many ways. Firstly, when I start read a book or an article, I
always read carefully and detail. It made a difference for easily understanding,
improve reading process, and making it possible for me to guess or research a word
which I did not know from the chapter. For the RRJ assignment, I have to needed
make a discussion question. It also very hard work when I done discussion question.
But through this question, I should understand what is going on in the chapter and
read more specifically to better understand on chapter. Also that improve the way I
thought more see the detail with deeply about this book. Then, the RRJ assignment
affected me positively for my reading skills and better reading process. For the free
writing during every class (quick writing), it makes better more specific and quickly
make ideas. However, I felt that I think Im mastered the RRJs in a way that I felt
that I was just writing down reflection on how I felt about The Spare Parts on a
questions. It was pretty much a response to what I just read process. Summarizing a
chapter in minimum five to eight sentences was another struggle, but eventually
over time I felt that it was better way to read of information in RRJ.
While I was reading each of character story, I thought that is similar to me because I
am also international students like them. so I can more focused on this book. Then,
in every chapter mentioned about law of immigrant and happenings. I think legal or

illegal immigrant students have to chance to opportunity about any of work or

study. For example, Cristian Arcega and Lorenzo Santillan, when they came to PCC
and their speech conference were amazing. I feel that they are successful life this
era. They always tried to their work, it really has to respect. Thus, through two
characters, influenced my values changed more pragmatically because people who
are law-abiding in the world often experience disadvantages, also I hope to be more
flexible for laws or rules.

I can feel their passion and visions. Then, in class

discussions part were very interesting to me. How the class got engaged was
empowering and seeing how I felt on certain topics. There had four question deal
with the book, first time it was hard question to me, but it really helps for your
English speech.
My reading has changed since entering College in many ways. The most important
reading change is that author note or introduction. Before I entered College, when I
read a book, I never read an introduction or author note. But through this class I
realized these two part were vital of story structure. However, through entering
college, I started to read introduction. Then, there are many reading assignments, it
was challenge for me to finish reading books and articles. For managing time, I have
to decided when I read this assignment. It was really helpful to manage any of
assignments because I dont want to procrastinate the assignment. Through many
RRJ, I am sure that I am an insider in reading for college. College One, I learned a lot
of English skills include speech, writing, teamwork, projectetc. Thus, I will
recommend to future take College One Students
