Given a rubric with all required elements, students will be able to understand how to

SMART board slide will include a minimum of 5 addition problems to show that they
can apply their knowledge of addition within 20.

SMART Board

Differentiated Instructional Strategies

ADHD Students will have their own extended time and are allowed to wear
headphones to limit distractions if necessary.
Gifted students will be allowed to make up for challenging addition problems
and explain how to solve them to the class. Also, they might be offered more
challenging worksheets if necessary.

Utilize Media & Materials

First, I will have the class listen to my lesson and I will teach them how to add using
pictures. This will give them a visual in order to connect adding to objects. Next
they will use numbers to add and complete a worksheet of 5 problems within 20.
Then, I will have them get into partners and when called on go to the SMART board

in the front of the classroom and create a minimum of 5 addition problems on their
own. Next, they will talk to the class and each do one of the 5 problems and explain
how they get the answer. As a class we will then complete the last 3 problems they
made and then a new group will go to the board to create their 5 problems.

Require Learner Participation

All students will participate because I will be calling on them individually to answer
questions as some of the students are presenting their addition problems. Also,
every student will be involved because they will all be required to go to the SMART
board.

Evaluation
Academic Content
Addition within 20 using pictures and numbers.
21st Century Skills
I will evaluate their ability to use the SMART board and occasionally will have
them use the calculator on the SMART board to check their answers.
Successful collaboration and participation with partner.
Use of Technology
How successfully the students wrote 5 addition problems on the board and
explained how they got their answer.
Instruction of Lesson
By observing the partners presentations of their problems I will identify who
is ready to move on to harder topics and who is not. Also, if there is little
class participation I will assign homework of 10 addition problems for that
night. If at least 80% of the students get 7/10 right I will move on to the next
topic.
