My Philosophy on Exercise Science

I believe that one has to practice what they preach in the field of exercise science. By this, I
mean that in order to show others how to life healthy lifestyles, as exercise scientists, we should
also live healthy lifestyles. I believe that this is important in gaining the respect of patients and in
properly teaching patients how to do exercises. By being physically fit ourselves, we show that
we are not just telling them to do things because we have authority, but that living healthy
lifestyles is something that is highly valued to us. In doing this, there is a sense of respect in the
relationship between the two people. There are many benefits to being able to demonstrate
different exercises as opposed to verbally telling others how to do them. This also created less
room for error when trying to properly do them.
