The purpose of this technology plan is to provide all students a full of technological
instruction to increase students success and support 21st century classroom. The
technology plan facilitates multiple levels of policy and curriculum decision-making in
school districts and schools that allow for supportive resource allocations.
Research studies in education demonstrate that the use of technology (e.g., computers)
can help increase students scores on standardized tests (Brain &Ross, 1999), and
improve students inventive thinking (e.g., problem solving) improve students selfconcept and motivation (Sivin-Kachala&Bialo, 2000). Since it is proven that technology
has a positive impact on promoting student success, federal and state governments
establish programs for integration of technology in the schools (Hew &Brush, 2006).
Integrating technology into the schools will help prepare students to succeed in a rapidly
changing world. For this reason each and every school should have a technology plan.
Technology plan is described by the Regional Technology Education Consortia's (RTEC)
Technology Plan Task Force: A technology plan serves as a bridge between traditional
established standards and classroom practice. It articulates, organizes, and integrates the
content and processes of education in a particular discipline with appropriate
technologies.

funding is needed to support the replacement policy?
HSA- Houston Highs technology policy is a part of course syllabus. The policy says:
Students and their parents need to keep in mind that use of School Technology is a
privilege and not a right and that everything done on any School owned computer,
network, or electronic communication device may be monitored by school authorities.
Inappropriate use of School Technology may cause restricted or banned computer use,
disciplinary consequences, removal from courses, loss of credit, receiving a failing grade,
and/or legal action as stated in Student Code of Conduct.

handouts to all students and they will post some informational posters on the bulletin
boards.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and

integration skills and needs for professional development.
1. What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for
professional development?
Since HSA-Houston High has started implementing STEM Program, technological
proficiency and integrating skills of administrators and teachers plays an essential role in
order to be successful implementing STEM program and all the admins and teachers not
only STEM subjects but all should be aware of the importance of technology. Math and
science teachers will be asked to attend at least two trainings while ELA, social studies,
elective course, and language teachers asked minimum of one training to implement
technology in their classroom in order to increase 21st century skills of students and
promote students success.
2. How does your LEA regularly assess teachers ability to utilize
technology in a standards-based curriculum?
There will be walkthroughs and formal observations by admins and district
instructional coaches not only to assess teachers ability to utilize technology but
identify their needs to implement technology in their classroom.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
1. What professional development will be provided to ensure
teachers and administrators will be able to effectively accomplish
the curricular goals for students described in section 2?
Professional development services will be provided both schoolwide and districtwide to
train teachers to apply new technologies in their classroom. In addition, admin team will
be supportive to teachers receiving trainings from any other sources outside of school and
district and all expenses will be reimbursed when a certificate of completion provided.
2. How will teachers and administrators be trained and provided ongoing support in the effective integration of technology into the
curriculum?
All trainings will be hands-on technology to make sure teachers and administrations are
able to effectively utilize technology in their professions instead of knowing all details
but not able to utilize.

INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND

ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA

support the Curriculum and Professional Development Components of the plan.
1. What technologies are available to facilitate home/school
communication such as email, web pages, and voice mail?

HSA- Houston High has a great outreach system to keep connection between school and
home. School collects parent/guardian email address and phone number during the
registration process. Parents will be reached via email but mostly school reach phone
calls and text messages.
2. What technology access do parents have at home? What
technologies do parents prefer for home/school communication?
HSA- High parents are mostly low-income families, so some of the students do not have
internet connection at home. School will conduct a survey at the beginning of the year
asking parents to what type of technology is accessible to them to decide the best to
communicate with parents.
