INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
The plan should guide the LEAs use of education technology for the next three
years.

List specific start and end dates (1/1/2016 to 1/10/2019). Provide a brief overview of the
LEA, its location and demographics and/or share a link to the LEAs website.
Start Date: 1/1/2016
End Date: 1/10/2019

Harmonys vision is to enable students to succeed in school and in the workplace, and to
provide an option for students to enter math, science, and engineering careers. This will
lead to students becoming productive and responsible citizens and even Nobel laureates.
Harmony Science Academy- Northwest is one of 46 campuses in Harmony Public School
district in Texas. Harmony Science Academy- Northwest serves 674 students from
kindergarten through eighth graders and it has 60 staff which includes administrators,
paraprofessionals, teacher aids, secretaries and etc. Here is the link for website of the
LEA: https://www.hsanw.org/

Describe how a variety of stakeholders from within the LEA and the community-at-large
participated in the planning process.

Any individual in the school system is called one of the stakeholders which is a part of
whole picture. School principal, dean of academics, dean of students, dean of operation,
IT manager for school, computer department, all department heads, parent and students
representatives and local business owners are part of this technology plan. However,
school principal and IT managers from school, district and central office play key roles to
develop this plan.

Summarize the relevant research and describe how it supports the plan's curricular and
professional development goals.
Summarize the plans major curricular and professional development outcomes that are
supported by research.
Describe and cite the relevant research that supports the plans outcomes.
Describe the connection between the research and the plans goals.
Describe information gathered from site visits, including best practices.

Schools are one of the important places to shape communities futures via providing
good education not only teaching science, mathematics and reading, they also teaches
their students how to become a good citizenship, a good individual who contributes
society in positive ways to develop a good future for humanity. To achieve these goals
that I mentioned above, schools are supposed to have a plan designed to improve their
current technology level, students and teacher competencies.

Technology has been changing quickly, the way I learned things when I was in middle
school was one of the traditional approach and It was not effective if I compare it with
todays approaches. I believe if students have chances to use technology more effective
then they will be more successful. Thats why my school needs to adapt technology into
all subjects curriculum.
Technology plan is not a simple plan that keeping the current inventory and focuses on
purchasing new technology to campus. It is more emphasizes establishing carrier goals,
includes professional development strategies. By starting with an organization's mission
and priorities, a technology plan helps to clarify where opportunities exist to improve
infrastructure or deliver services in a new way (Technology Planning, 2008).

CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current use of digital
tools.

What kind of technological tools do teachers currently use at Harmony Science

Academy Northwest?
Every teacher who works for this school has a chance to get a laptop and iPad. In addition
to these technological tools, every classroom has a docking station compatible with

laptop, a projector and an apple TV. Students are also so lucky because they have
assigned Chromebook for each subject in this school. For example, I do ask from my
students to have a Science Fair project every year. Thanks to using Chromebook, things
are getting easier for students and of course for me, too. Students create their own slide
presentation which is related to their Science Fair topic easily via using their
Chromebook.

Do teachers use any online program to improve students success at this school?
Yes, all core courses teachers have some online websites for their students to improve
their achievement. Science teachers are currently using StemScopes and Study Island,
mathematics teachers are using ALEKS program and ELA teachers use Study Island.

Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of digital
tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or replacement policy
that ensures equitable technology access for all students.

1. How do students access technology in this school?

Every classroom has their own Chromebook cart and every student are assigned to one of
the student.
2. What replacement cycle has been built into the plan; and what funding is
needed to support the replacement policy?
Every student needs to sign a contract at the beginning of the school year about using
Chromebook in the classroom. If something happens to Chromebook, students have

to report it to their teachers. First two years, company which is in charge of

Chromebook guarantees to replace Chromebook but after two years my school
follows directions which is in the student parent handbook if parents accepts these
provided rules in the parent teacher handbook.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using technology
to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to the LEA's curricular
goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the LEA's budget (LCAP) supports
these goals, and whether future funding proposals or partnerships may be needed for
successful implementation.

1. What are the LEAs curriculum goals and plans for assisting students to meet
technology literacy and information skills?
Harmony Science Academy Northwest is a college preparatory school and its goal to get
all gradated students ready for life. To achieve this goal, the curriculum and competencies
have been aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) which is already
set by Texas Education Agency (TEA) and every student is responsible to meet these
standards. The goal for the supporting students to meet the literacy are extending the
learning beyond school walls, interactive multimedia classes and described how a student
can get access to online textbook.
2. What LEA adopted curriculum supports the acquisition of technology and

information literacy skills?

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address Internet
Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the classroom.

1. What LEA board policies will be or have been developed to implement

Internet safety instruction?
Harmony Science academy northwest use three different internet systems which are
for guests, staff and students. Since students take advantage of using Chromebook
during lesson, most of the websites are not allowed in their system.
2.

How are students using online communication technologies, including but

not limited to social networking and instant messaging?

Every student has their own Gmail account. Thanks to using this Gmail account, every
student can easily create a slide presentation, google docs and any other things which are
provided by google. Students can also reach all school curriculum programs that are
provided in the home page.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT
The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff

understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and

integration skills and needs for professional development.

1. Are administrators able to support teachers with the integration of

technology into daily curriculum?
My school is getting a RTT grant and some other grants so that it is requirement for
principals to make sure that teachers use technology into daily curriculum. Principals also
ask IT manager to provide what teacher needs about technology.
2. What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for professional
development?
Based on the surveys given to the teachers and administrators, it is stated that the biggest
need for professional development based on technology is to train them on how to use
software mandated by central office, the educational applications offered by Google, and
by devices such as tablets and chrome books.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment data and

the Curriculum Component of the plan.

1. How will teachers and administrators be trained and provided ongoing

support in the effective integration of technology into curriculum?
HSA-NW asks from its teacher to complete a certain amount of workshop time every
year. Dean of academics also observes teacher every year, if a teacher has a certain area
needs to be developed about academics, dean of academics ask them to attend workshop
related to this technological area.
2. What professional learning will be available so teachers and
administrators can make informed decisions using data to meet
individual student academic needs?
Students are at the center of everything. There is a STAAR test from all core subjects for
some grade levels every year. According to these data, teachers need to modify, add or
remove something from their plan. During professional developments before school
starts, coaches give information how to read data and analyze data.

INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND

ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA
The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services, hardware,
software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to improve
education services.

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the existing hardware, Internet access, electronic learning resources, technical
support, and asset management already in the LEA that will be used to support the
Curriculum and Professional Development Components of the plan.

1. What technologies are available to facilitate home/school communication

such as email, web pages, and voice mail?
HSA-NW has a web page which is controlled by administrators. They post events, test
dates etc. via using this website. There is also weekly harmony newsletter is sent by
administrators. For emergencies, school use a school reach program which is a voice mail
system.
2.

What technology access do parents have at home? What technologies do

parents prefer for home/school communication?

Parents can see their children grades and everything via using school database system.
Describe the technology hardware, electronic learning resources, networking and
telecommunications infrastructure, physical plant modifications, technical support, and
asset management needed by the LEA's teachers, students, and administrators to support
the activities in the Curriculum and Professional Development components of the plan.

1. What emerging technologies could be used to implement the plans goal?

At this point, we are planning to combine all the servers in each school under one

umbrella so that teachers can access to all the services wherever they are. That way we
will be able to control all the servers of all the schools as if they are in one school but in
different classrooms. In short, we are trying to make more efficient use of Windows
Active Directory.
2. Where will the technology be placed to effectively support the Curriculum
and Professional development components?
Technology will be placed within the HAS-NW campus. Some of the items that we
thinking that will support the curriculum and professional development components are
replacing the laptops of all teachers with new ones, increasing the number of the printers,
replacing the projectors that are older than 3 years, purchasing smart boards for computer,
science, math and ELA classes.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT
The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor
progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response to
new developments and opportunities as they arise.

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact on teaching
and learning.

1. How will the LEA know whether implementation of this plan has made a
positive impact on teaching and learning?

LEA can look at all data for three years period and it can compare these data with
previous years data. According to results they can easily understand if implementation of
this plan has made positive impact on teaching and learning. They can also do some
survey to get feedback from teachers and students.
2. Describe the process to coordinate the individual evaluation component.
School can provide some surveys to get their feedback. Teachers can also explain what
they think about technological resources to their department head, IT manager and dean
of academics.

Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation, including a
description of the process and frequency of communicating evaluation results to tech plan
stakeholders.

1. How often will data be collected and summarized? Who is responsible?

I believe data needs to be collected and summarized every year by principals and finance
guys from central office. Everybody is supposed to be responsible from progress of the
plan but principal must be the one for collecting and summarizing data.
2. How often will the status of plan implementation be reported to the LEA
superintendent and the stakeholders?
It needs to be reported to the LEA superintendent and the stakeholders every year because
you need to see progress. If something needs to be fixed, you can do implementation
easily if you know where you stand at.
