My mentor has her own business that is located at her home.

Mrs. Marsh is the photographer and owner of her company, K.Shannon Creative.

General topic of study- Business and Marketing

Mentor

My mentors name is Kasey Marsh. Mrs. Marsh is a sole owner and

photographer of her own business. The business that she owns is
called K. Shannon creative. Previous to owning her own photography
business, Mrs. Marsh worked at M.D Anderson. After a while she
realized that she wanted to pursue her passion of photography. So
she quit her desk job and traded it in for a camera.

What is ISM?

Independent Study Mentorship (ISM) is a course available at Clear Springs

High School. The class counts as an advance course.

To be accepted into the program you must apply and be accepted.

The class requires the student to acquire a mentor that accepts the
student to shadow them in their place of business.

ISM requires the student enrolled in the course to make a Weebly site, on
this site the student must add all activities done in class, research,
papers, and documents called Activity Logs, that show hours spent with
mentor.

Each week you must spend two hours with mentor. Along with two mentor
hours, you must have three activity hours. Activity hours are things that
you have done in your free time to prepare for your final presentation.

Project Topic

For my actual project my mentor and I choose to market senior pictures to the
senior class and show why marketing to women is more efficient

My topic is to broadcast that my mentor, Mrs. Marsh, is able to photograph

people from all sorts of life and backgrounds. Also, it is to convey that no
matter what youre involved in she can capture.

I choose marketing to the senior class, for the reason that Im a senior and Im
eager to learn about business. In the future I plan to get my degree in
Agribusiness. I plan on getting my degree after I have been working in the
medical field for a couple of years. Learning how to successfully run and
operate my own business will be key to my future.

Why marketing to senior girls is more

efficient

When youre a senior its typical

for you to get your senior
pictures taken. These pictures
are to document what youve
accomplished over the past
couple of years.

Boys typically have no interest in

the matter, they typically dont
care if they have a specific
photographer.
Girls on the other hand talk to
their friends to see whos a good
photographer.

Senior Models..

When being a senior model for K. Shannon Photography, you receive a set
your prints. With these prints it is desired for the models to show their
group of friends what Mrs. Marsh can do. For example Im in FFA so Mrs.
Marsh will take my pictures with my animal and with my FFA official dress.
With my prints I will show my friends in FFA how well she can photograph
my animals. Whenever a model refers a friend to K. Shannon Photography,
the model does receive compensation . Because Im an unpaid intern I will
not be receiving compensation.

Senior Pictures:

Survey

I surveyed 28 people from ages 15-50 and got their

opinion on pictures, and how much of a priority getting
pictures taken.

Purpose: was to show that women are more concerned

about pictures, and are willing to spend more money on
pictures than men are.

spend more money on pictures

photographer rather than men.

Conclusion

Reaching out to certain groups

of people to become your
clients is essential to being a
successful business person.
Marketing out to women has
been proven to be more
effective than to men.
Becoming a small business
owner is a tedious process but
the outcome is tremendously
uplifting.

Id like to take time to thank my mentor, Mrs. Marsh for

taking me under her wing and showing me the way of how
to operate a small business.

Id also like to thank my evaluators for sacrificing your

Most importantly, I would like to thank my parents for
