During this unit, I felt as though the students were able to meet the learning objectives
that were set for Monday. I wasnt looking for them to be able to throw a long pass to their
partners. I was looking for them to be able to recite the COTS and be able to practice the steps of

how to throw the football within a good distance to their partners successfully. However, during
Wednesdays lesson, I think I may have set objectives for my students a little too high. I noticed
that my students were able to acknowledge the difference between the different plays, but they
were not able to execute all the plays successfully.
If I had the chance to change my teaching episode or alter my lesson, I would have done
so. I would have not introduced three different plays because there was not enough time to cover
the important aspects of the different plays, nor was their enough time allotted for the students to
practice the different plays. I also noticed that during my lesson the students were standing
around a lot waiting for their turn. This lowered my scores based on my students MVPA. I
thinking that next time I should not set my standards for my students learning objectives so high.

Creating a Quality Leaning Environment:

I feel as though the lessons that were taught on Monday and Wednesday of this week
allowed the students to develop their motor skills. At the beginning of the lesson during core 1 it
seems as though many of the students were concentrating on making the right pass and trying to
get it to their partners. However, as they continued to practice throughout the week, I noticed that
they became more comfortable with themselves and with passing the football. I especially
noticed this when they were trying to execute the football plays. Even though the students were
not completely grasping the concept a of all the football plays, they were however, getting better
with making more accurate passes and catches.

After taking a look at my evaluation, I noticed that my moderate to vigorous activity did
not quite make it to where I was expecting it to be, which as at least fifty percent. My moderate
to vigorous activity was documented at seven hundred and ten seconds, which is only about
twelve minutes. My goal was to get at least fifteen minutes of MVPA. Even though I allowed the
students to practice the skills and techniques, I still was not able to meet my standard goal.
During the lesson I use the general release response technique (GRR). I demonstrated, had the
students to demonstrate and then had them to conduct the lesson as a class with a partner. In
order to improve this, I need to minimize the spent instructing the students on the lesson.
Hopefully this will help the student s become active during the lesson a lot longer. However, as
for the students who were able to catch onto the drills faster than the other students I allowed
them to increase the distance between the two of them making the task a little more difficult. As
for the other students I encouraged them to continuing to practice and doing their best.
Strengths and Weaknesses in Pedagogical Skill Set:
Before the start of the lesson, all students were seated on the white base line. I provided
the class with full detailed instructions. I tried to make them as clear as possible, but the
instructions seem to be a little long. I also provided the class with visual and verbal COTS that
were demonstrated by the teacher, evaluating team member and a student. Before the unit began
I placed the equipment where the students where to be placed during the activity. During the
football unit I placed myself in the middle of the activity field. I continued to walk around the
activity area during the duration of the activity. This allowed me to provide feedback and
encouragement to my students. I was also able to be engaged with the students while they were
being active while showing how fun the learning activity could be. I provide individual feedback
to students who were not using the COTS correctly and encourage the class to be supportive of

their classmates. I also provided positive feedback to all the students in the class. Even though
the lesson was taught to the best of my ability, I also noticed that I should have stopped the class
and provided a demonstration when they were not executing the drills correctly, or when there
were too many mistakes being made. If I incorporate demonstrations into my lesson during the
middle of the activity, this will probably help the students with their motor skills and regain their
focus. At the end of the lesson all students were directed to pick up all equipment and place it
neatly in the equipment bag. For those that were not following direction were called out and was
given a warning.
Recommendations:
One strategy that I could use to improve my weaknesses in my teaching skills is to utilize
the people and help that I have around me. This will help me stay calm and not become so
fidgety during my lesson. I can also have my students to work in small groups of three so they
could have received more practice and playing time, which would have increased their MVPA.
AS we approach the next teaching episode, my main focus will be to find a way to increase my
MVPA. I will try to do this by decreasing the instruction time provided and not giving too many
directions at once which confuses the students.
