Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
Bondurants BEST tickets are an incentive used throughout the school. I use them frequently in my classroom.
Students can earn BEST tickets several different ways. Students can earn the tickets for participation,
demonstrating BEST behavior when others are not, and showing good character. Our PBIS committee has
also adopted a behavior clip chart that is implemented in each classroom. In my classroom, along with several
other fourth grade classrooms, I tie the BEST tickets to the clip chart. I encourage positive student behavior in
all content areas. Students are familiar with the BEST tickets and how to earn them. These tickets remind
students to show Bondurants BEST each day. Students who are not showing Bondurants BEST may be asked
to clip down as a reminder that the behavior they are exhibiting is not desired. They are still able to earn the
BEST tickets and the opportunity to move their clip in positive direction.

Reflection on artifact:
This is our second year with the PBIS chart. Last year I found it difficult to effectively implement both the
BEST tickets and the clip chart. After discussing this struggle as a team, many of us decided on a common
strategy. Students who earn two BEST tickets in a day are allowed to clip up to Good Choices, if they earn four
in a day they are allowed to clip up again to Super Student. When students reach, and end the day, on Super
Student they earn a sticker for their clip. After students earn five stickers, their clip is moved to a separate
poster, they earn a reward recess with the principals, and start a new clip.
I have found this correlation of the tickets and chart to be very successful. My students appear to enjoy this
strategy and are quite excited when they earn BEST tickets. There are times that I will ask students to move
their clip up without directly earning the BEST tickets. This most often happens when only a handful of
students are following directions. I feel that this verbal recognition and reward can be very motivating. Overall
this new strategy has worked well this school year and I anticipate it continuing to work well.
