Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
Each year I must recertify my Bloodborne Pathogens Training. This training is one of several trainings that I
must complete annually. In addition to completing the course I also need to show the district I have
completed it. In order to recertify I am required to read through the necessary information and pass the
assessments along the way. This is important information to read and refresh on each school year.

Reflection on artifact:
It is helpful to recertify this training yearly. Fortunately I do not have a frequent need to apply this knowledge,
but it is important that I do have the knowledge and am able to apply it when needed. This school year I had a
student who suffered several bloody noses in a single day. One episode left blood on my counters and
cabinets; having taken this training I was able to properly protect myself while also cleaning and sanitizing my
classroom.
The online training system makes recertification accessible and quick. Each fall I am able to access the site
and renew the necessary courses. The AEA has improved the system even further this year with sending the
certifications online as opposed to printing them. I felt this was a great tool. I was able to complete the courses
and did not have to worry about printing them and getting them to the proper place at the district office.
